"66Sick" is Disbelief's 6th album, which probably has something to do with the fairly atrocious album title. I've been a bit of a fan of these German guys since 2001's "Worst Enemy" album. I must admit though that it has become increasingly frustrating each release to see this very decent band resting on their laurels. The sound of each album has been almost identical and they never sway from the mid-paced slightly hardcore sounding death metal that has become the blueprint. If I had never heard Disbelief before, then I'd probably find "66Sick" to be a very satisfying and effective album, but the truth is that it adds nothing to what comes before it and in fact never reaches the height of "Worst Enemy".

The strength of Disbelief unfortunately is also their weakness. They write very simple music that many would discount as boring and irrelevant, but it also manages to get under your skin after a few listens and won't let go. There's nothing at all very technical about any of their tracks, but they certainly know how to write some good chunky riffs and have slight variances that keep things rolling along nicely.
The vocalist on occasion sounds like death metal legend John Tardy which can only be a good thing, but he has a bit more variation.

"66Sick" has some good solid tunes such as "Lost in Time" but I too often find myself reminded of the bands previous works which were much fresher when they first hit the scene. I'm sure these guys rock live due to their aforementioned chunky riffs and crunching beats, but I for one hope their next studio effort has some more imagination put into it. Certainly not a bad album, but I find it more and more difficult to recommend Disbelief to metal fans when there are so many more inspired efforts on the market.

Having read a few reviews to see what others were saying about this pile of $hit record, and the term "NuDeath" kept popping up. Wouldn't there have to be a death metal influence to validate that? Where is the death? This whole album is nothing but nu-metal detuned grooves, not to mention the 66Sick album name. Hahahahahhahahahaa. This is garbage.
