5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Use Of Talent!, March 5, 2006

I won't reiterate what the other two reviewers have said; I will say that I spoke with Travis (directly!) after "668" came out to learn the lyrics to the rap in the middle. A sense of humor has been lost on popular music, and these guys deserve to be heard. BTW, I do believe the "an"tagonist of "668" lives in Hampton, GA, but I've been known to be wrong before...

4.0 out of 5 stars Fresh, innovative blend of musical genres - a must own CD., December 20, 1998
By A Customer
While relatively unavailable to the average CD buyer, "Headbangers Squaredance" is a must own CD. Travis Shredd and the Good Old Homeboys are, without question, one of the most innovative groups I have encountered in a long, long time. Based, I believe, in the Seattle area and recording on a small, perhaps band owned label, it was just a stroke of luck that I was able to even learn of the band. This, the first of their 2 CDs, is truly a highly palatable blend of metal, country and rap. Sounds very strange, I know, but this assemblage of very talented indivuals pulls it off like it has been done for years. I'll grant you that the mix of rap, country and metal is schizophrenic on the surface, but these guys really pull it off. And, they mix all three genres on each and every song. Beautiful pedal steel, hard driving guitar work and clever, well-contrived lyrics accentuate all the tracks. From the opening track "So What", which somewhat delienates the frustration they must have encountered while crafting their sound to "That's M'Name", which is a somewhat biographical piece, to the country-moshing "Diver Dan", this CD makes you stand up and take notice. The music and the sound are fresh, and one cannot help but listen with a grin as the band takes you where you never expected to go. The band has not fully developed their style yet on this Cd as they have on 2nd CD, "668 Neighbor of the Beast". But, you will want to know where they came from because with one listen you will know where they are going - to the top of the chatrs! Bottom line - if you can find it buy it and enjoy!
