If you work with plywood, or if you've always hated plywood, this book will change the way you look at the man-made medium. Well written, and easy to follow instructions. The desk that I am typing at was built from this book.

The plywood projects shown in this book are a lot of fun to review. They include children's furniture and a lot of knock down projects. Each project also shows detailed cutting plans so one can cut out the project parts with the least amount of waist. The book is dated in that it shows computer gaming tables and computer stands that will not work for modern machines. Also, it seems a huge number of projects use slots to fit the pieces together. This was a big deal a few years back (like 1960) but has gone out of vogue today.

Overall, I liked the book but the projects are of limited use for me. I would still recommend the book to anyone interested in working with plywood or other sheet material.

Best thing ever. Well, if you love building fun items. It has a built in retro feel to some of the projects. If you are doing it by hand or using a CNC this is a great book to add to your collection.

Even if some of the plans seem dated, there are some very interesting plans, and ideas to be gotten even from not-so-useful plans. One thing that annoyed me is that the last year of the "competition" is represented only by pictures of the finished projects--not the complete plans--and include a portable workbench I'd very much like to build. Otherwise, the plans run the gamut from efficient and economical furniture to fairly complex workshop-related designs.

I'd like to see a reissue (especially if the last year/chapter could be fleshed out), but NOT as a Kindle. However fond I am of my Kindle, the plans and diagrams in this book need better graphics capability than I've seen in any portable device.
