I bought this to replace an old fan that the builders had installed (my old one was only rated at 50cfm). I needed a new one because I was getting condensation on the bathroom walls since the old one was not moving enough air. I was able to install this in about 20 minutes from below and it works great. Perfect sound level to wash out any unwanted bathroom noises but not to loud so it's not annoying. It certianly moves a lot more air than the old fan. I liked this fan so much I bought another one and installed it in my other bathroom. Don't forget to insulate the cracks between the drywall and fan fixture to eliminate heat loss and help secure the fan (which helps reduce movement/noise). I used spray foam which worked great. I let it dry over night and then used a razor to scrape it flat and neat. Also, to make sure the bathroom fan acutally has air to move there must be a gap on the bottom of the bathroom door so the fan can pull air from outside the bathroom under the door and circulate the bathroom air outside. I cut the door so I have approx 1 inch gap from the bottom of the door to the tile floor (this also helps so the door doesn't drag or catch on any bathroom rugs). Once I cut the door and reinstalled it the fan actually got even quieter because it wasn't trying to work so hard to pull air. If you install a fan in a room with no means of "breathing" the fan can not pull air correctly and the motor will heat up and die very quickly.

I bought this model because the price was right for a spare bath, and it was the right size to replace the old one. I didn't care that it was 4.0 sones. How loud could it be for the length of time it runs.? But the first fan received vibrated on the spindle and my electrician suggested I get a replacement. I did. Amazon was amazingly fast with the replacement and sent it out before they received the old one. The second one was fine and suits my needs. I recommend plugging these fans into an outlet before installing in the ceiling. If I had, I could have had the replacement before I got the electrician in and pay him for two trips.

This bathroom ceiling fan is much quieter than the previous fan. I am pleased with the sound. However, I found that mounting the fan with the attached mount placed the exaust 180 degrees from the exaust ventpipe, already installed. If I had had access to the fan from the attic, this would not have been a problem; I would have installed a cross mount for positioning the fan correctly, lining up with the ventpipe. Also, the fan exaust was 4in. in diameter. The original was 3in.

I purchased this fan to replace a 25 year old Broan after finding my old fan was starting to rust and was not properly vented to the outside wall. The new fan isn't the quietest on the market but for the 110 CFM rating, the price was right! The new fan was easy to install (if you have attic access) and has an easy to remove grill for cleaning. One minor complaint I have is Broan doesn't supply any wire nuts with their fans....

I received the fan promptly and installed it. It was harder getting the old fan out than installing the new fan. It was a breeze to install and it works perfectly. The most important thing is my wife is very pleased. When the boss is happy, the world is happy!

We just finished replacing our old, worn out fan with this one and it is twice as good as our last. It is very quiet and keeps the steam out our our bathroom almost completely. (about 90%) I would recommend this for anyone wishing to replace or install a bathroom fan.

I got this fan and saved a boat load compared to what Home Depot sells them for. Installs easily and is very quiet. Vent fans are one thing you should spend more money than you want to in order to get a quiet one that moves a lot of air and will last for a long time. It's OK to skimp, but don't skimp on a good vent fan!

after shopping at the big box stores we went to amazon, where we usually buy from after doing some research! so happy with our purchase.

This fan is for either a large bathroom or laundry room application. My original fan died because I use it to remove heat and odor from the laundry room and so far it has done a great job. It is quiet for the amount of air that it moves. The only difference is that you will need to either get an adapter for the larger exhaust line or replace the entire line with 4" because standard is 3". Overall I'm quite satisfied by the upgrade and would purchase it again for this application.
