5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected
This item was better than expected and has worked well for me. Perhaps some people are expecting too much from a winch this economical. Amazingly it also arrived 4 days earlier than the estimated delivery date. Very happy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so good for engine hoisting
I bought this for a boat engine replacement project. I returned it. Quick story... Approx 600lb motor, well within 1000lb rating of puller. On first try. the puller went an inch or two and cut out (overload safety). Hmmm - found that the tool had arived with the puller cable spooled backwards, causing it to rub and abbraid on the entry opening and spooler mechanism...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so good for engine hoisting, July 2, 2007
This review is from: WARN 685000 PullzAll 110 AC Corded Electric Winch (Misc.)
I bought this for a boat engine replacement project. I returned it. Quick story... Approx 600lb motor, well within 1000lb rating of puller. On first try. the puller went an inch or two and cut out (overload safety). Hmmm - found that the tool had arived with the puller cable spooled backwards, causing it to rub and abbraid on the entry opening and spooler mechanism. Pulled the cable all the way out and wound it back in correctly. The abbraision problem was solved, but the thing still cut out after every few inches. Finally got the engine high enough, then started moving it down onto a dolly. The variable speed which kind of worked in the pull mode does not work at all in the release mode. The slightest trigger pull caused the load to lower quickly and a minimum of an inch or more. Useless come time to gently lower the engine onto engine mounts. I'm returning it and getting a manual chain hoist. This product is a great concept, but a poor execution. It might be good for dragging trees or something, but not for any kind of precision work.

1.0 out of 5 stars Winch and Amazon Customer Service STINK......., April 25, 2009
By
This review is from: WARN 685000 PullzAll 110 AC Corded Electric Winch (Misc.)
The PullzAll never worked out of the box. Warn Works customer service says the product was probably defective and to return it to Amazon for replacement. I do and Amazon decides to give me a refund (minus a restocking fee of $35.62) and not the replacement that I specifically asked for. When I asked them about it, they simply say "We would like to help BUT........ and you can reorder another online if you wish." Fat chance of that. The time and expense of shipping a faulty piece of equipment back and forth isn't worth the hassle or the cost. Bottom line: Faulty product - Lousy customer service.

3.0 out of 5 stars attic hoist, November 28, 2007

Installed for use as a hoist in the attic, for lifting heavy storage items through an access hatch.

Pros: I like the versatility of the unit. It is lightweight and can be used for outside applications like pulling shrubs out, hoisting things in the garage, trees, etc. It performed well in the Attic application in lifting three window air conditioners that were stored for the winter.

Cons: It is a bit slow. It is geared low, and overshoots when you release the trigger, making it difficult to come to an exact position. (not a big issue) I would have liked to have a cargo net available with the unit. I could not find one and had to build a small plywood platform with ropes attached in order to lift items into the attic. This works OK, but a net would be much easier.

3.0 out of 5 stars Amazon Service was Great-Pullzall Performance Could be Better, September 6, 2008
By
This review is from: WARN 685000 PullzAll 110 AC Corded Electric Winch (Misc.)
Bought this for light duty pulling in my shop. The first unit would over run several inches no matter how light the trigger pull. It was hard to judge where it would stop. I also found that the cable had a broken strand that could catch a finger if not wearing gloves so I returned it for another.

The new one allows me to feather the trigger so that it will stop where I want it to. I downloaded the service manual from the Warn site. It's 50 pages long and has a lot of detail. From the manual it looks like the winch has had several revisions.

The manual advises to discard the tension plate if it has one. I think my first one did as it had a black drum guide in the picture and the new one is gold colored. It also shows a revised hook, but both my units had the old one.

The manual states that old units have a circuit breaker and the new ones have a rocker switch. Both my units had the circuit breaker. It's a little disappointing that the old units are still being sold. Maybe this is a recent improvement. It would be nice to leave the unit plugged in and turn off the rocker switch.

The direction switch is confusing as if you think of the unit going up or down the direction arrows are backwards. If you remember to think of the cable going in or out the arrows are correct. I made in-out and direction arrow labels with a label maker so I won't have to think about it.

I think the Pullzall is a very good idea, but could be of better quality. The fairlead on both units is rough cast and would be easier on the cable if were smooth. I would recommend that you check to make sure the Pullzall that you order has the updated features.

This is a great tool for quick and easy access to pulling-I can connect to my 1500w power inverter and use it anywhere. The only drawbacks I see are that the power cord is short (12"), and there is not a free cable disconnect, so if you need the full length of cable, you have to run it out electrictly, a time and power grabber. I carry a pully and hook system to increase my cap, to 2000 lbs, you can do more, if you have the pullys and cables.

We purchased this Pullzall two months ago, and have used it about 5 times. It has a nice "overload/auto reset" feature to stop you from damaging it. it just stops if it is above capacity and gives you a red warning light. That worked fine for a while, but on the 4th or 5th time it started flashing all the lights, then they all went out. It now no longer works. I wouldn't reccomend this tool if there is any chance you are going to be overloading it.

2.0 out of 5 stars The little winch that thought it could., February 2, 2010

OK,
So after reading some reviews, I decided to give the Warn winch a try. After all, Warn does seem to have a fairly good name in the off-road world. I needed a winch for my machine shop where we had a job and the parts being machined were about 100 lbs. a piece and needed to be easily lifted from lathe to milling machine and vice versa. I decided to build an overhead gantry and use the Warn 110v unit to do the repetitive vertical lifting. Initial thoughts after receiving the unit are decent quality for a unit that came from China but in a few years of use, YOU WILL NEED A HEARING AID!!! The machine is so loud. Anyway, I set up the gantry and the little winch does a fairly good job of picking up the steel...at least in the beginning it did. We had about 16 pieces to machine. All in all, I would say that we used the winch to lift 100# up 4 feet about 1 minute out of every 10 minutes. Toward the end of the job...THE WINCH WAS SMOKING..LITERALLY!!! We had to cool the motor down with compressed air in between uses. Even then I was able to notice a constant degrade of power until at the end of the 16 parts, the unit would go into overload when I initially pulled the trigger. I was able to finish the job but I definitely do not think the winch will last another job!

Synopsis

These units are disposable and I cannot believe that Warn puts their badging on it!!
You will go deaf using it!
The unit I have literally smokes lifting 100 lbs with a 10% duty cycle. Imagine lifting 1,000 lbs as they say is the max!! All in all, I am happy to have been able to finish the job without breaking my back but I do not hink that the winch will last. Buyer Beware.

Thanks for reading. Jay

Good product with good price. It sometimes sounds "rinky-dinky" in operation (like it's going to break), but it hasn't yet & I've used it to pull 350 pounds several times. I would buy it again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Electric Pulling Tool(Warn Model 685000, October 25, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: WARN 685000 PullzAll 110 AC Corded Electric Winch (Misc.)
The Warn Model 685000Pulzall 110 Corded Electric Power Tool is very limited in what it can do, due to the lack of a remote cord control or a longer cord. The motor sounds like a power drill is operating it, and the wire rope does not look like it will hold up for long.
Because of where the trigger control is located, the operator will have to be right up to the work, and if something is lifted, be on a ladder over the work. It could get dangerous, depending upon what is lifted. This product needs to be re-designed, even if it costs more.
A low cost chain hoist is better than this product. Jed A. Peeler

1.0 out of 5 stars Thinking of buying a 2nd one, but.. OH NO!, November 26, 2007

This review is from: WARN 685000 PullzAll 110 AC Corded Electric Winch (Misc.)
I don't think it is worth over $200. I use my 1st one to pull shrubs out of yards and am getting more and more ambitious on the size of bush I want to pull. The one wench red lines and I am afraid of ruining it. So, here I am; BUT, geez these things are tooooo pricey now. Where's the china alternative?

Well, I bought the second and pulled a huge pine tree root ball.

i wanted to give it 5 stars, since the secon one seems to have a overload cut out timer...

CRAP! Bought the second and now I have two BROKEN ones. Examined the guts and man am i disappointed. Too frustrated to type about it....for now, more later..... this buggers at least can hang out of the way as reminders of bad engineering.

Yep, just saw it in my box of broken dreams, what a shame, the wasted money on these POS...live and learn...

I have the parts for two of them, and would like to offer an option for other broken ones to be sent for further study of a claim of faulty product. So, have fun with the new one, and when it breaks, let me know and we will go from there....
