SixSentence Volume 2,
This review is from: 6S, Volume 2 (Paperback)
The authors of these six sentence stories are clever, the way they can pack so much imagery and talent into a few sentences and complete an entire story. Rob McEvily had a grand idea and ran with it. Writers from all over the globe participate. Readers love them. They can read one story at lunchtime or snuggle up and make an evening of it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the many stories in this book. Keeping this in my desk at work, it was the perfect way to detach and bring my mind back into focus during a stressful day at work. The story by Alyssa Quintieri especially struck close to my heart. Recommending this book is a no-brainer for me.

A solid if mixed bag...,
By Jim Slanski "Reader" (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 6S, Volume 2 (Paperback)
A who's who of Web writers, some well known and others obscure, contribute stories six sentences in length. The idea of what constitutes a "sentence" seems loosely defined, but the rule is more or less followed throughout. There's no way this kind of collection, and it's lengthy, wasn't going to be a mixed bag. Still, the work is mostly well-crafted and thoughtful, though some contributors lean a tad too heavily on the dreamy/prose-poem format or let's-set-up-a-punchline routine for my personal taste.

Short-Shorts Long on Talent,

What a rich and varied collection Robert McEvily has put together with 6S Volume 2. Each piece is only six sentences long, but none short on artistry and impact. These compact fictions are a deft and engaging addition to a popular and ever-expanding flash/micro and sudden fiction genre. I marveled at how so much has been worked into these diverse and tightly wrought tales: voice, character, tone, nuanced details, and above all--"life" so sharply rendered.
