When I don't heed the advice in Baby Bargains I end up being disappointed and returning things. I think the book is really well organized and thorough. Their website is also fantastic allowing readers (and the authors) to continually share info on bargains. I'm not sure about the negative reviews. I think they do a good job of explaining the best values for 3 different price ranges. There are also good lists pointing you to places for more info (like coupons).

I buy this book everytime I hear of someone new expecting (like someone did for me) and they always let me know how much they love it.

Please note - I own the red cover version but I have used this version at the library.

I don't know what all the other mothers are talking about. I loved this book- I found everything right on the money. This book gave me so much information about baby products- info you can't find anywhere else. I also highly recommend Baby 411- Fantastic- you would be an idiot not to buy this book before you register. Unless you want to register for the wrong baby stuff. The baby product world is more confusing than anything- there are so many products available- this book gives you honest answers about different brand names. and in my opinion- the answers are right on- I would rename the book the baby bible

I wonder if the negative responses secretly came from manufacturers & retailers who got negative reviews? Don't know why others don't like it but we found that using this book as a GUIDE, not a bible, we were able to find so many of the best values on the market. By the way - THIS IS WHAT OTHER PARENTS THINK! These authors use feedback as a key resource in determining their picks. I used and LOVED the Bridal Bargains too. I would recommend this book to anyone but always use your own sense & judgement too.

I am having my second baby in January. I found the older version of this book to be much more helpful and sensible. Perhaps they are trying to cover too much but even having some experience this new edition was rather confusing and often said one thing in one place and something different in another. I think this time around I'll go to a store that has many things for baby and rely on my common sense.
I recommend if it's your first pregnancy to talk to other moms.

This book was sent to me by a friend who told me she used it as her bible when she was expecting her first. After reading the book I understand why. Even if you don't agree with their top picks, the information on safety and what features to look for and what features to avoid in all the different products is invaluable. I am going to be a first time mom and before reading this book I felt like I had no idea what to look for and what I needed to buy, but by the time I finished reading it I had a good idea of what I wanted. When we went shopping for baby furniture my husband and I noticed that at least half the other shoppers were carrying this book around and using it to shop by. I will definitely recommend this book to everyone I know.

This book was recommended to us by another set of parents and we absolutely love it. The guide is about getting the best product for your money, not just the cheapest. We found out about so many products that we didn't see in stores like our Zooper Swing stroller and our Britax Decathalon car seat. Yes, we paid a little more initially, but we didn't have to buy things again as she got older. Who needs two strollers and two car seats!?! We used as a GUIDE and were very satisfied with the results. I do agree that they rate products that most parents don't need (diaper pail), but it's about helping parents make informed decisions when they aboslutely think they need/want something.

I had an old one I used to death now I bought a new one. Just a great reference book listing and rating so many products. I dont understand the negative reviews. Its not a coupon book and doesnt claim to be. But includes products of wide range of prices.

I loved this book! I've bought this book for all my friends when they've announced they are expecting their first bundle of joy. This book is very easy to read and very informative in all aspects to an overwhelming number of choices of baby necessities.

I thought this book was very infomative. It helped with a lot of my purchases. I would recommend it to evryone I know.

My wife and I really like the advice given in this book. It is daunting at first for the sheer amount of information, but you will soon realize that the same information is parsed many ways so that it act as as a more in-depth analysis as well as a quick recommendation list.

We find the analysis and discussion to be fair and is a good starting point for first time parents. We have given the book several times as presents to other first time parents.
