4.0 out of 5 stars Great Themes and A Great Disc, April 17, 2002
This review is from: The 6th Day (Audio CD)
Let me begin by saying that I became addicted to film scores several years ago. Since I began listening to them I have purchased nothing else. As an independent writer, I use them for inspiration when I write since they do not have distracting lyrics. I am not a music expert and know little about scoring a film. I just know what I like.

And I loved THE 6TH DAY.

I am a big fan of the movie, Schwarzenegger, and the score for this film. So much so that I listened to the entire Composer Commentary Track on the DVD and gained even more appreciation for the score. It is very aggressive music filled with synth rhythms and heavy drum work that I love in a music score. Both Adam's Theme and The Clone Theme continually pop up at all the right times.

If the soundtrack has a failing, it is that Mr. Rabin's sound is usually very similar in all of his scores. Some people might complain that similarities can be made to the score work done in CON AIR, DEEP BLUE SEA, and ENEMY OF THE STATE but I loved all of those scores as well. It would be like trying to tell an artist to draw figures a different way or get a singer to change his inflection and tones.

Composers are usually hired to bring his or her style to a picture and Trevor Rabin's great synth and action style is perfectly in tune for this picture. It is great to listen to as a stand-alone disc and if you like any of Mr. Rabin's other work, I am sure you will enjoy this disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars "6th day plus Trevor Rabin = powerful/awesome score", December 7, 2000
This review is from: The 6th Day (Audio CD)
Arnold Schwarzenegger once again proves sci-fi thrillers are still with us - but none of this would work without the magnificent score by Trevor Rabin. Cloning is the subject matter and our composer takes on the assignment with no-holds-barred, as you will journey through each cue that is simply riveting.

Rabin who gave us - "CON AIR" (1997), "ARMAGEDDON" & "ENEMY OF STATE" (1998), "DEEP BLUE SEA" & "JACK FROST" (1999), "GONE IN 60 SECONDS" & "REMEMBER THE TITANS" (2000), puts this on another level - with "THE 6TH DAY" darker and more subdued mixing rock, electronic and symphonic genres...nice touch, as it suits the films story-line perfectly.

Of course highlights - "PLAYING GOD", "THE ROOF TOP", "DRUCKER MEETS DRUCKER" and finally "ADAM GOES HOME" each cue has enough power through percussion, electronic and choral mixes to light up an entire metropolis...as the interwoven theme goes way beyond the max, simply outstanding in structure and awesome in performance.

Varese Sarabande and Trevor Rabin have another winner, as their long winning-streak for "movie-music" collectors and "film-score-buffs" continue to amaze every theatre-going fan!

Total Time: 39:23 on 14 Tracks...Varese Sarabande 066196...(2000)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Energizing Score For Schwarzenegger's Latest, November 29, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The 6th Day (Audio CD)
This Score for the Movie The Sixth Day is a very Entertaining piece of score music composed by artist Trevor Rabin. This score like his previous Armageddon,Enemy Of The State and Gone In Sixty Seconds combines elements of Hard Rock,Electronic Back Beats and Pulse pounding exciting music.A wonderful Jewel of work is Heard in the End Credits song ADAM GOES HOME.This song starts out soft and carries the main theme of the movie along in it and is wonderfully paced. The rest of the songs including CLONING,The 6TH DAY and ADAM'S THEME are truly amazing compositions by Rabin. Some of his most Amazing work to date a great addition to any soundtrack collectioon.
