This review is from: #7-71/1 6-421 BEA Pneumatic Tack Gun (Misc.)
This is my second BEA Upholstery Stapler. My last one gave out after 4 years. When I took an upholstery class several years ago, this was one of the upholstery staplers the instructor recommended and the one she actually used. I don't do upholstery for a living, but I have recovered wing chairs, foot stools, drapery cornice boards and other craft products. I am a do-it-yourselfer.It is easy to use, not too heavy and it does have an integrated noise silencer (which is quieter than some of the staplers other students used). This tool requires an air compressor (pneumatic), so it has the power to go through lots of fabric and wood. I have a portable air compressor I take when doing things at home or for other family members. The handle and grip are good and the staples are easy to load. I bought my initial stapler through another online vendor, but decided to try Amazon this time. I tend to buy most of my online items through Amazon now. I consider myself an novice to new intermediate upholsterer. I am not intimidated by this stapler and I really enjoy using it. As with most tools you have to be aware of how they work and all safety tips. I have a portable compressor I use for small projects, but also a big whopping compressor for larger items. The staples for this tool are readily available. The reason I gave it four stars was that it gave out in 4 years. It has a one year warranty, but I expected it to last longer. Of course, the failure could be user error, but I did expect it to last longer since It's not something I use all the time. I suppose I could have taken it in for repair and may still do that, but the price was reasonable to buy a new one AND I may still get it repaired, just to have a back up. I definitely would recommend this product with the proper tools and accessories and let your imagination run wild. I bought my staples from my previous online supplier. It uses ¼" to 5/8" - 22 gauge and 3/8" crown staples. I would consider it a medium level product, but professional upholsterers may chime in that it is great for that too. I am just speaking from my own limited experiencel |
