5.0 out of 5 stars Worked gr8
I was delighted with the lights and the solar unit which worked splendidly for three or four days. Then my year old border collie who could out-chew a beaver demolished the solar portion while we were gone for several days. If you have a pup, elevate the solar unit above potential threats, facing south!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so good.
This item seemed promising. I charged it for 2 days, turned it on, and it didn't work. I changed it to a fresh, regular AA battery just to check: nada. This seller charges return shipping even for defective items. I got a new one (after paying to return the DEFECTIVE item) and have the new one. It works. Here are the problems.

Two things that are problematic about the device:
1)The on/off switch is encased in a rubber button that is bigger than the switch it is covering; as a result, there is no way to tell if the button is off or on, which is problematic since you're supposed to charge it while off. You can check with a regular battery, though.
2)The lights are spaced very close together, which means they don't cover much ground. This may be a problem if you are using them spread out on the eaves or around windows rather than, say, jumbled together on a shrub.
3) When you "program" the lights with the tiny programming board, the colors you don't want are just off. That means not a whole lot of total lights when you choose, say, red; and some weird spacing issues will result if you string them rather than jumble them up.
4) They aren't bright. When I drive up, I have to be about 20 feet away to see them.

Other things to keep in mind--not faults per se, but problems in my opinion:
1) The LED white is not warm white. It is that bluish cool light. Overall, all the colors are pretty primitive cool LED.
2) Another thing to keep in mind, which is true of all solars: since it has a light sensor, if headlights hit the solar charger, the lights will go off.

Overall, I would not recommend these.
