4.0 out of 5 stars Makes Changing Chain Length Easy, February 10, 2007

If you've ever hung a chandelier, you know how frustrating it can be changing the chain length by bending the loops with a regular pair of pliers. Even more of a struggle is getting the loops back rogether again without marring the finish or pinching the skin of your palm! This tool makes the job easy; just place the loop on the outside of the plier jaws and squeeze to open the loop. To close the loop, place the loop inside the jaws and squeeze. Presto, back together again with no marring or cursing! Makes life a whole lot easier if you use a lot of decorative chain. I've used other chain pliers that are heavier duty, but this one works fine. Great tool!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unlinking the links!, November 10, 2006
This review is from: 7" Chain Pliers (Misc.)
Ever tried to unlink a chain? Two sets of normal pliers and only two hands...too many pliers and not enough fingers! Well, these pliers will do easily what you need done - both opening a link and closing it back up. Insert to whatever size you need (the end looks like steps with the different sizes) and squeeze. One open link! When you're ready to close it, place the link in the space in the middle of the pliers and squeeze again. One closed link! The only reason I didn't give it 5 full stars is because they don't work on small or large chains, just the ones in the middle range. Never mind, they're wonderful. My fingers thank you!

If you have any kind a of a chandelier or lamp with a chain that needs adjustments, then this is the tool for you. It makes easy work of opening and closing the chain links with no damage to the chain. Currently I only have 2 chandeliers to hang, actually 1 is hung and the other will be hung soon. As far as I am concerned this tool has already paid for itself with the 1 chandelier that I have hung. I am a firm believer in having the right tool for the job, this is the right tool when it comes to chandelier hanging.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thanks Amazon!, March 13, 2007

In my early days in the electrical trade I worked with a journeyman that had a pair of these and was shocked how simple they made the installation of any kind of chain hung light fixture.

I started looking for a pair of these a couple of years ago and couldn't find them anywhere.

Thanks Amazon for cutting my installation time and giving me the ability to install light fixtures without destroying the finish with a pair of pliers! Now I can have apprentices amazed at the handy tools I carry also.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST if you're hanging a chandelier with a chain!, August 5, 2011
This review is from: 7" Chain Pliers (Misc.)
Brought a beautiful chandelier for my dining room only to discover I couldn't install the darn thing because I couldn't open a chain link, making it impossible to adjust or attach the chain! Spent at least an hour of frustration using regular pilers and screwdrivers trying to open a link and ended up with a link that wasn't open enough with a finish that had been destroyed in the process and fingers that had been pinch and bruised. Bought this tool and within 5 minutes of opening the package, I had two links opened with the finish unmarred and about 30 minutes later the chandelier was installed. Genius little speciality tool. Easy to use and well worth the money. Like one reviewer said, if you know enough about this thing to be looking at these reviews, then just buy it.

Works great for those annoying chandalier chains. I wish I had bought this sooner. It would've saved me so much time and frustration.

If you are hanging lights you have got to have this. Granted, you wont use this on a daily basis but it is worth it to have. No marks on the chain and it sure makes life easier.

5.0 out of 5 stars if your here then just buy them, April 2, 2009
This review is from: 7" Chain Pliers (Misc.)
if you know what they are and ur here looking at them then just buy it already. if you are an electrician then you have to have them period, only butchers hang fixtures using anything else, just admit it. they work on any and all residential fixtures i've come across, and are perfect for commercial fixture chain ie hanging flourescents in warehouses. if your an electrical helper and ur boss or mechanic doesnt have these then buy them for yourself and show him up when he has blood blisters from pinching his hands with regular pliers.
yeah and using ur linemans and a screwdriver to twist open links definitely not a good idea - tell it to the woman with a $2000 italian hand blown glass chandalier when after ur done hanging the fixture the link snaps from twisting it and her beautiful light is laying on the floor in a busted heap of crap. that was the day i bought these.

5.0 out of 5 stars chain pliers - a must have for chandelier chains, January 13, 2009
By
This review is from: 7" Chain Pliers (Misc.)
I needed to remove links from a chandelier chain and couldn't separate the links without leaving marks even though I had coated the jaws of my pliers with tape. I found this product searching the internet and I only wish that I had owned a pair 2 chandeliers sooner. The product is well-designed and helped me do a neat installation very efficiently. I know that there are other ways to do this, but this is a case where I found the right tool for the job.
