VINCI 7" Touch Screen Mobile Learning Tool

Invented by a mom, VINCI is a new category of early learning systems exclusively designed for children ages 4 and under.

VINCI sets a new standard for learning by converging developmental science, cutting edge technology and early childhood education to offer a safe, fun and inspirational learning experience.

Key Features

Developmental Science
VINCI Tab, VINCI's first early learning system, comes complete with part of the VINCI Early Learning Curriculum.

The games, story books and music videos are specifically designed for fun, parent-guided and interactive education which is mapped to be inter-connected and designed to provide levels of learning according to each child's age and capability.

Age Norms are scientifically proven milestones that cover developmental stages including motor and social/emotional skills as well as language and cognitive abilities.

Cutting Edge Technology
VINCI Tab features a 7-inch touchscreen and Android OS based on the most advanced Cortex A8 microprocessor. For the first time, young children are offered a true technological device equally advanced as their parents tablets. VINCI offers young children the best of the world, because our future relies on children.

Early Education
VINCI taps into the early childhood education, focusing on nurturing Curiosity, Critical thinking, Capability to observe and discover, Control and discipline, Confidence and Communication, with the goal to build our children's character and foster a winning attitude. VINCI embraces exploration based, child led and parent guided playful learning where children have fun, and are in control. VINCI apps encourage parent-child joint attention with fun for both parents and children.

Unlike other tablets and devices on the market, VINCI Tab has no WIFI functions or wireless technology, which minimizes emissions and protects children from unwanted content on the Internet. Parents have full control over what their children play. VINCI Tab uses exclusively non toxic, medical and food grade materials for the handle and housing.

Through a series of 3D animated games, VINCI challenges conventional thinking about early childhood education by promoting 'active learning' over 'passive watching.' VINCI Games are mapped to developmental milestones based on Age Norms, in a real world context, designed to help parents and children explore, play, have fun, and learn together.
Music Videos
Music is a great way to introduce your child to the real world and is proven to develop a wide variety of motor and cognitive skills. Sing-n-Dance album including 12 songs is for fun sing alone and dance together, with Baby Haha's simple gestures for your little one to imitate and for you to enjoy. Lullabies including 8 soothing songs help you to quiet your child down before nap or bed time.
VINCI Story books re-tell children's classics using an engaging learning approach. Children are able to touch objects on the screen and experience the delight of immediate interactive feedback. The stories are told using simple language allowing your child to learn language and to understand the ideas behind the stories.
With VINCI Tab's 3 megapixel built-in camera, parents can easily capture every step of their child's unique progress. VINCI Diary reminds parents about what they can expect in terms of developmental milestones at each specific age of their child, and link pictures and videos to create the child's very own story book. VINCI Diary is available for download in autumn 2011 to VINCI Tab users who have registered their purchase at VINCIGenius web site.

let me start by saying i'm a mobile app developer and well versed in android. this probably accounts for why i have been so disappointed with this device. for the amount this thing costs, go buy an ipad/kindle fire/anything else. This tablet was given to my young 2-year old daughter who is obsessed with touch-screen devices and she loves it... when it works. let's start with the pros...
    1. the handle is nice

    alright, now for the cons...
    1. even though this thing is built on android 2.3.3, it's less stable than my 2001 windows ce phone. the "video player" will play a few videos in a row then the screen just stays black while the audio plays in the background. give it a minute in this state and try to press the back button and you'll get a nice error and force-close. however, whatever thread responsible for playing the video continues to run and the audio for the video plays until it's complete (or you power-off the device). imagine my surprise when my daughter gets frustrated because the audio for three videos are playing at the same time and they won't turn off.
    2. even slight pressure on the back of the tablet causes the screen to turn purple/flicker. (horrible hardware).
    3. the camera takes pictures with resolution circa 1998.
    4. one of their selling points was the absence of a wifi/internet connection to prevent children from getting to things they shouldn't. well that's fine, except if you're making a custom Android ROM and you leave an internet connection out of the hardware, it might be a good idea to remove all the native android apps like google maps, gmail, marketplace, etc.... honestly, what the hell? it's like they didn't even try. Look at the kindle fire...

All I can say is thank the Lord we got this using traveler points and not cash or credit!! The fact that you need to pay $99 for a yearly membership to download apps or pay $35 for each app is INSANE, there is no wifi and the handle is flush to the screen - so when our 2 year old son threw it on the kitchen floor this evening - SIX days after opening it, mind you!! - it landed flat on it's "face" and the screen is shattered!!! WHY would the rubber handle not be made thicker so that if it would end up on a hard surface, the screen would be protected?!?!? This IS for small children, people!!!! That's one of the first things I noticed when I was watching my son play with it! I am so incredibly disappointed with this thing and wish we had really read about this and checked reviews before getting it. UNBELIEVABLE how costly this thing is with such little payout!!!

This is such a rip off. It never charges. Battery dies right away. It never works. Dies right in the middle of a song and the screen will go dead and music is still playing. I order one had to send it back. Ordered another one and did the same thing. I cannot believe they come up with something like this for $400. Next time make sure it works properly. This is so not worth it.

I bought this tablet for my autistic son. He enjoys kindergarten or so level games, but has never really gotten into video games. I wanted something he could play videos and look at pictures on, and hopefully something that would have some games that would capture his interest. That has been hard to find.

While I was initially impressed with this item, the screen broke very easily and after initially replacing the item, this happened a second time. I purchased an extended warrantee but was told that it would be $80 to replace. I purchased this item right when it was released, and found that I had to wait several weeks for supporting software to be released before I could even use the item. This was a problem since it was for my autistic son's birthday. I was not able to give it to him for his birthday because operating software was not yet available! I checked the website daily which had messages to keep checking back. Once it was available, and the tablet was working, I found my son did indeed enjoy it. It just is too fragile for a child.

My son has an ipad as a speech device and has not had a problem with the screen.

I also felt the price was way out of alignment being that I paid about $500 for the device and another $100 or so for a warrantee. The warrantee is doing me no good because they want me to pay to have it fixed anyway.

To add insult to injury, only months after releasing the item with no supporting software and with wifi permanently disabled, they got wise to the fact that it was over priced and under performing and cut the price in half and enabled wifi.

This might be the WORST Android tablet you can find at its price range, in fact, I hope I can give a zero or even negative rate. It does contain the latest android 2.3, however, IT DOES NOT HAS ANY CUSTOMIZATION AND NOT SUITABLE FOR KIDS!! How can you image that a company simply ports the basic android system, which has already been critized for its engineer-type, not-user-friendly UI, and then try to sell it for kids of age 0-4? Its hardware spec looks not bad but the actual system runs slow and easily gives "Force close" warning, which means this company doesn't spend any time to optimize the performance, or even did the most basic testing and debugging. Many useful features included in the original Android are either gone or disabled, no Wi-Fi, no android market, no settings... so don't expect that "if it is too difficult for my kid, at least I can use some time". Yes, it does come with a very simple game for kid, however, again it is slow, buggy and poor picture quality, plus I don't think the kid can be patient enough to wait for this game to load between each step. All in all, this buggy game plus those rubber protective bars around the tablet, are the only features I can think that are designed for kids, other than that, this is a very low quality, very pre-matured Android tablet, which is not suitable for kid use (definitely not for adults either). Very disappointed, I have to return it to Amazon.
