I heard Stephen on KKLA in an interview referring to this book often, and wondered if the principles he talked about would really work. I read the book and passed it along to my wife to read.

Once we agreed we needed to do something we took the advice of the author and told ourselves; it's only 7 minutes a day. What do we have to loose.

We are only on week 2 of the applications and have found ourselves crying in each others arms. We've learned more about each other, our pasts and how they affect us today than we could have ever imagined.

After reading this book, both my wife and I agree we have made so many mistakes over the years, but we are determined to have a successful marriage. It will take a lot of work, a lot of time, but we are convinced it's what God wants for us.

It's an easy read with videos by the author to view before discussion and application. I have pre-ordered Stephen's Bible / Daily devotional and can't wait until it is released. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who is struggling with their marriage or wants to improve a seemingly good marriage!

This book is so powerful I have told both of my adult children to read it, and they are both still single! I loved it so much I want to do a study on it with the ladies at my church. If you have problems in your marriage, this book will help you to see all angles, even when I thought there was no other way to see. It brought to light things that I never realized before! It is full of great examples and real SOLUTIONS that you can try. Hats off to Stephen Arterburn! His humor and charisma really make the whole book an amazing read!

I am not sure why this book has not gotten more attention! It is easy to read and understand. It is also filled with very practical advice that can quickly change your marriage. If you take the time to read and then implement some of the ideas put forth in this book your marriage can only get better. I gave this book 5/5 stars but if I could give it more I would! I would recommend this book to every married couple whether newlyweds or seasoned partners! I loved this book and will be keeping it on my shelf and buying other copies for friends. Spread the word, this book is awesome!

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

The book is divided into two sections, Seven Things to Stop and Seven Things to Start. My wife and I read through this and did not watch the videos linked at the beginning of each chapter; we also did not notice the study guide at the end of the book, which takes you through two parallel chapters a session (one thing to stop, one thing to start) with discussion questions. Looking at Arterburn's website, there appear to be a host of videos with answers to commonly asked questions if you sign up.

My wife and I read through books on marriage regularly, and I think this one didn't really stand out as stellar for either of us. There are good principles that are found in most Christian books on marriage but much of the book is annoyingly repetitive. Spoiler alert: The 7-Minute aspect is not mentioned until the conclusion of the book, and it's making sure you do a (minimum) 7-minute devotional with your spouse every day. Scripture, meditation, discussion, and prayer. I'm not sure why he didn't include that at the beginning of the book, or in the chapters on what to begin doing if it's the most important thing. If you are looking for a simple book/study to do with your spouse or small group, then this one is simple enough; I'm just not sure it's worth paying much for. I'm pretty sure we would both rank put Love and Respect above this book in the recommended reading order, and I might also recommend Fun Loving You as the second half of this book focuses on proactive activities to express grace and focus on joy. Honestly, the best marriage book I read this year was the Journal of Best Practices by David Finch. That is a non-Christian look at a husband and wife trying to pursue real friendship, give up their expectations, and flesh out much of what is written in 7-Minute Marriage.

Steve again has taken a very complex subject, marriage relationships, and with God's word, give hope to the many struggling couples yearning to connect again. His use of humor, his own life and common sense make this an enjoyable read. I recommend this to those that are married, thinking about getting married or engaged to be married.
Worth the read.
