5.0 out of 5 stars 70 X 7 and Beyond, July 31, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: 70 x 7 and Beyond: Mystery of the Second Chance (Paperback)
This book is absolutely wonderful--providing such hope for those of us who are caught up in the cycle of addiction and incarceration. My husband is into his third trip to a lock up facility. I shared this book with him, and he was just like me and many others--unable to put it down. I'm now purchasing another copy to send to the county jail in my home town which is full of addicts and alcoholics! Many thanks go to Holly and Monty for putting the horrors of this disease down in black and white and showing us that it can be overcome and that ANYTHING is possible with God's love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Riveting!, August 9, 2000

This review is from: 70 x 7 and Beyond: Mystery of the Second Chance (Paperback)
My husband is in prison and sent me this book. When I started reading it, I was shocked because Monty's childhood was a blueprint for my husband's and his adulthood was incredibly similar as well. His and Holly's marriage was a blueprint for my marriage, and I fully identified with Holly's struggles. I could not put this book down and at the end I cried until I could not cry anymore and then I poured my heart out to God. I have recommended this book more than I have any other and my copy is getting passed around constantly. I am ordering additional copies to send to family and friends. God bless Monty and Holly for sharing their story. It is one everyone should hear.

5.0 out of 5 stars entertaining, heartwarming, and engaging, May 22, 2005
This review is from: 70 x 7 and Beyond: Mystery of the Second Chance (Paperback)
Seventy Times Seven is a great book. The fact that it is a true story makes even better than if you thought it was realistic fiction. It is a great story about how the author, Monty, repeatedly makes horrible mistakes, trusts God to get him out of the consequences, and then turns his back on God again. The point of the story is to show us that no matter how bad we are, no matter how horrible the things are that we have done, God is waiting and willing to forgive us and to give us better lives. He finally gave in and decided to stay with God in the end and obviously he doesn't spend his time in jail or prison any more (unless preaching their) but instead in churches and such places to teach people that they can be forgiven for their mistakes and change their lives. Like most people who read this book I started reading it and didn't put it down. I finished it the day after I got it only because I started to read it at 12pm and I fell asleep at 3 something. It is a little redundant because he keeps getting in trouble, then preaches and has a good life, then gets in trouble, then preaches and has a good life, etc. But then again, we can be very redundant in our life too. We repeatedly ignore God and make decisions based on what we think is best for us (not others and not based on what God knows) and we end up in a mess. This book is about getting out of that mess. I strongly suggest reading Seventy Times Seven.

5.0 out of 5 stars Making It Real--Bringing It Home, March 2, 2003
By
Miranda (Billings, Montana (setting of 70X7)) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 70 x 7 and Beyond: Mystery of the Second Chance (Paperback)
I first read Monty Christensen's 70x7 and Beyond soon after moving to Billings, Montana and receiving this free book from a fund-raising dinner the author spoke at. The fund-raiser was put on to raise money for the completion of the new Montana Women's Prison chapel that had just been built. This book is down-to earth and comes directly from one man's life and death struggle with alcohol, drugs and crime. The beautiful part of the whole book is the honest flavor of grace Monty is able express, proving to the onlooking world that God's grace is able to forgive even beyond 70x7 times. I just looked up this book on the web because I will soon send it to a friend who is now incarcerated. He, like me is not even 25 yet and he needs to know that his life is still just beginning and there is hope. I have been blessed by this book and recommend it to all who may be looking for a truthful dose of hope.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an uplifting story., July 3, 2002

This review is from: 70 x 7 and Beyond: Mystery of the Second Chance (Paperback)
I read 70x7+Beyond not expecting all that much. I had won 2 Frank Peretti books in an online auction, and the seller out of kindness sent me this 3rd book for free. It just happened to be this little book written by Monty Christensen. Well, a few months after reading the Perreti books, I decided I'd give the extra book a shot. Honestly, I don't even recall having put the book down for more than a few hours once I started! The feeling of abandonment while reading about Christensen as a child, the feeling of desperation for him to get out of the drug scene, the disappointment of going in and out of jail and prison, of treating his wife like someone he had just met on the street, and all in the middle of this, the mercy and forgiveness of the LORD just sitting there waiting for him to repent and change his ways.

Trust me, if you've never read this book, please go out and obtain a copy as quickly as you can. I guarantee you will luv it!

The first time I ave ever eard of the book, was when my husband introduced it to me while he was in prison. I was a christain at the time, still am, it was so wonderful. How they were able to give the testimony that they gave. I find my self so much in that book nd me and my husband. It's so awesome. I'd love to tell them personally, how wonderful it is and how it made me feel so good and changed me. I was on suc a spirtual high. I'm craving that again. I'm getting ready to buy the book again for the second time. I really admire Holly for sticking by her husband and having the faith she had in God and her husband. I think she is an example wife for us all. Everyone needs to read this an realize what real forgiveness is. so awesome!!!

The moment I finished reading Monty's story, I knew my life had been changed. It's a story about Monty's struggles and how he overcame them. It's a story about his wife's unwillingness to give up on him. It's a story all of us need to read at least once!
