Biography

Discovered by Michael Bivins of New Edition, 702 is a teenage trio -- Irish, Kameelah, and Lemisha -- who made their recorded debut singing on Subway's hit single "This Lil' Game We Play." The group released their debut album, No Doubt, in the fall of 1996, preceded by the single "Steelo." Several other singles from the album followed in 1997, including the title track, "Get It Together," and "All… Read more in Amazon's 702 Store

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

When Missy Elliott wants to pretend that she's a one-woman Holland/Dozier/Holland writing and producing hits for the Supremes, she hooks up with 702, the female R&B trio named after the area code for their hometown of Las Vegas. Elliott crafted four songs for 702's 1996 debut, No Doubt, including the hit "Steelo." For this overdue follow-up, Elliott has come up with two more, including the Top 10 pop smash, "Where My Girls At." The single boasts an irresistible push-and-pull rhythm that intersects cleverly with the sing-along chorus, and 702 gives this warning to would-be man stealers a youthful vulnerability that the tougher Elliott could never have managed herself. Elliott's two tracks are the highlights, but Kameelah Williams and sisters Irish and Lemisha Grinstead have made a successful transition from high-school-age prodigies to college-age pros. They don't have overpowering voices, but do display a sure sense of pitch, a surer sense of rhythm, and a seductive sweetness on the catchy new-jack tunes created for them by Whitney Houston cohorts Soulshock and Karlin, Dru Hill's Warren "Smiley" Campbell, and Rick "Dutch" Cousin of Ice Cube fame. --Geoffrey Himes

3.0 out of 5 stars NICE, July 25, 2000
By "meda87" (Pomona, NJ United States) - See all my reviews
702'S new album was very nice. All of the tunes were very catchy and seemed to be combinded with the right beat. The better songs include "You Don't Know", "Finally", and "Where My Girls At." Yes I would recommend this album to one of my friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best CD I have ever bought!, May 28, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
1. 7 interlude - Irish's singing with a little beat.

2. Where My Girs At? - This has to be one of the best songs I have EVER heard. It has the most catchy chorus of any song I heard! I listened to this song 5 times in a row one day! Definitely the best song ever!

3 You Don't Know - An excellent and catchy song. I love when they make the voices robo-like. It add a really cool effect!

4 Make Time - A good song with yet another catchy chorus I find in my head sometimes!

5 0 Interlude - Misha's little interlude.

6 You'll Just Never Know- A very good ballad with a very cool and CATCHY chorus!

7. Finally - Has nice melody and a great chorus that will make you happy and appreciate the small things in life.

8. Tell Your Girl - One of my favorites! Has a really cool upbeat rythmn to it and catchy chorus!

9. Gotta Leave - I love the chorus and it is a very genuine song with strange instruments and sounds used in it. Another favorite of mine!

10. Don't Go Breaking My Heart - A very powerful ballad with a CATCHY chorus! (Sorry if you think I 'm getting repetitive with 'catchy' but I am just telling the truth!)

11. 2 interlude - Meelah's little interlude

12. What More Can He Do? - A very instrumental and nice sounding song. The CATCHY tune gets in your head easily.

13. Seven - A great song with nice beats and a very powerful chorus. I love the violins near the end of the song it can make you picture the girl running into the church to stop the wedding! It would make a great single.

14. Will You Be OK? - Another CATCHY song with cool intruments and guitars used for it. I like this song alot.

I hope this review is helpful! Definately get the latest 702 cd and you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars TLC+Blaque+Destiny's Child- Swears=702, the best group!, March 30, 2000
I bought this C.D. not exactly knowing what it would be like.I had heard "Where's my Girl at" and nothing else on this album. Now, It's the best album I've bought. All the songs have great muaic, lyrics, and voices. TLC can't topple this mountain of hits, not even close.
