5.0 out of 5 stars An unappreciated classic
707 was a very tight band that used guitar, piano and thundering drums in the heart of the keyboard era. Catchy melodies, intricate drum work and strong lyrics decorate most of these songs. Especially strong are the hit "I Could be Good for You" and my favorites, the "25 or 6 to 4"ish "Waste of Time" and the orchestral "Whole Lot...

3.0 out of 5 stars Includes the AOR hit "I COULD BE GOOD FOR YOU"
FIRST TWO ALBUMS ON ONE CD.
***The lead track, "I Could Be Good For You", seemed like a staple of AOR radio stations back in the early 80s - for some reason though, the cut didn't really make the jump to the classic rock format - and has become a little forgotten with time. "I Could Be Good For You" has kind of a Bad Company feel, with a little more polish...

707 was a very tight band that used guitar, piano and thundering drums in the heart of the keyboard era. Catchy melodies, intricate drum work and strong lyrics decorate most of these songs. Especially strong are the hit "I Could be Good for You" and my favorites, the "25 or 6 to 4"ish "Waste of Time" and the orchestral "Whole Lot Better". "Don't Wanna Live Without Her" has an awesome mix of rapid power chords, a driving beat and a melancholy tone. This band disappeared after Phil Bryant gave up the vocals and did the movie soundtrack to "Megaforce". The first two albums never got the recognition they deserved. A must for any classic rock collection.

"I Could Be Good For You" has kind of a Bad Company feel, with a little more polish. Honestly, I find the rest of the disc a little bland - but this one track is a killer, and worth the price of admission. 707 recorded another very memorable song, the title track from their third album Megaforce.
FYI - AOR stands for Album Oriented Rock, a very successful FM radio format in the late 70s and early 80s. ...Post disco, but pre Madonna. Quite a lot of these stations evolved into Classic Rock stations as AOR died out in the late 80s and early 90s. 707 is one of the many bands that thrived in the AOR era, but were excluded from most classic rock programming.

5.0 out of 5 stars Duke McFadden: The writer of "I could be good for you", June 19, 2010
By
707 Fan for DUKE (Santa Monica, Calif) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 707+The Second Album 2-fer (Audio CD)
I have know this band personally since before they became 707 and I will say with all my heart that Duke McFadden is the writer of 90% of the first Album, including "I could be good for You" which he wrote in the bathroom to have privacy! The drummer rearanged a couple of words (Mcclarty) Duke is the sole singer on the entire album except two songs. Save Me By Kevin Russell & and One Way Highway, "One way Highway" Phil Bryant sings. Duke wrote after the break up with his wife, way back in early 70's I was with him when he was writing it! I love the band always have they were all great friends until greed took over and Duke was let go. It is so sad the fame and money took over. All who were there and saw them, know what I'm talking about. 5 STARS for the first original 707 album. Great Album together guys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great albums!, April 5, 2008

I saw 707 in Denver (Rainbow)back in the 1980's. It's weird but I still listen to these 2 albums on my Zune. So they must hold up well. Still love them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A clasic oldie worthy of any collection., February 24, 1999

This album is a hard to come by item that is worth the investment. It brings back some good memories and will uplift the spirits when played. 707 should have stayed in the business. Just a couple of albums but each one a classic.

4.0 out of 5 stars More than a "One Hit Wonder", March 9, 1999

For those who like your power-pop leaning towards the heavier side at times, grab up this disc IF you can ever find it!! Their debut was a hidden classic of its type and still holds up well. "I Could Be Good For You" is one tune that just begs to be played at '11' on the dial; others do similar justice. Spliced in are more piano-driven ballads, resulting in a well paced release. Coupled with their 2nd release for added measure, this is a bargin to be had! Here's to hoping that it finds a re-release.

5.0 out of 5 stars Missing one of the best bands new wave bands I ever heard, May 1, 1999

I got a chance to see"Seven O Seven"@Summerjam 1982.At Bush Stadium in St.louis Mo. With(Rainbow, LOVERBOY,38 Special & REO Speedwaggon).I never felt like thisVery tight band!that sounded just as good live as they did on vinyl (cd)got the recognition that they rightfully deserved. "I could be good for you" is one of those classic tunes that you just don't get a chance to hear very often. 707 is one of those bands responsible for putting DISCO to sleep. There were other songs on this album that showed the depth an talent of their musical ability not only as song writters but as performers as well andshowed that they could write more than one hit tune on an given album.I just wish that I could get my hands on them!
