Doesn't line up with the saw. Flimsy and poor design. Save your $$. And yes, it was the right base for the right saw.

Powermatic recommends this and the 708119 for their 24b contractor saw. The 708119 base is better designed than this extension. as one viewer observed, it cannot be perfectly aligned with the saw/base because of the dynamics of the adjusting plates. Though the metal parts are sturdy, the design is poor. when you extend the adjusting plates to maximum, as you have to do for the 72" Jet and Powermatic saws, it becomes very flimsy. This becomes a problem over time because the legs of the wooden extension are simply screwed in. this arragement will only work over time if the base extension is sturdy because if the base extension wobbles, it puts stress on the legs of the saw extension. The workaround I found is to fabricate a third adjusting plate and reverse the end of the mobile base so that the wheels are outside the base. this works better, but it's still far short of ideal. a better design would be to extend the saw mobile base to become a sturdy rectangle with the mobile base extension. The assembly is near trivial and only requires a few wrenches. the adjusting plates are attached to the brackets with spring-loaded knob-and-pin which worked well. I am very surprised that a quality company like Powermatic would recommend this, but it is relatively inexpensive and one gets what one pays for. b.t.w. i have not found any other alternative that receives good ratings from customers.
