Nice Machine,

This review is from: JET 708626RCK DC-1100 1-1/2 Horsepower 1,100 CFM Canister Dust Collector with Remote, 115/230-Volt 1 Phase (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this dust collector last fall and have been very pleased with it. I have a small custom furniture business building mission furniture in white oak and also use lots of hard maple and cherry. I currently have one 4" flex 10' long hose on this DC connected to my cabinet saw and the other alternates between a 12 1/2 Dewalt planer and my jointer. This DC keeps up with the planer surfacing 10-12 wide white oak without blinking. I have successfully used the DC on two machines at the same time and had plenty of suction.I also use blast gates when only using one machine or switching connections with the DC running. Eventually I would like to hook up a short system with metal duct and have no doubt with blast gates this will do well. This went together easily and quickly. The remote lives in my shop apron and the timer is nice to put the DC on for a set amount of time. It is not terribily noisy either. The canister cleans easily with the flapper and the bag holds a lot of sawdust. The canister is a vast improvement over filter bags in ease of use and filer efficency. I have been dumping the bag out into a large trash can and I am still on the original bag after about 25 cycles of unloading saw dust. It came with 5 clear bags. I run the DC at 115v on a dedicated 20 amp circuit without any problems. I would buy this DC again without hesitation. I am a Jet fan and have a 14" bandsaw, small mini-lathe and a dedicated mortiser as well and I am happy with each for it's durablity in my workshop.

I'm going on three years with this unit. It is connected to a Jet jointer, Jet cabinet saw and planer. I've also added another line to use it with shop vac attachments and to suck up the dust from sanders and routers. It's a two stage collector now (I added a 30 gal trash can with separator lid) which reduces the times I have to empty the bag on the DC. The plastic bags can be used over and over again if you have somewhere to empty them. I'm on my third bag in three years and that's just because they snagged a hole on something carrying it into the woods to dump the sawdust. The filter will get clogged with dust often and the crank won't clear the dust out completely. I've found that the best way to clean the fiter is to blow compressed air into the filter while rotating the handle while it's still on the unit. Then, leave it alone for a while so the dust settles. Finally, remove the filter and brush all the dust trapped in the collar into the bag. This method will keep it running good. The DC is powerful enough to accomodate two machines at once, at least in my shop, and is reasonably quiet especailly compared to a shop vac. The remote really makes the machine. I keep it clipped to my shop apron and can turn the DC on and off as I go. In fact, I really don't pay much attention to this machine. It just sits in the darker corner of the shop and does it's job. If it wasn't for the occasional emptying, I'd forget it was there and doing it's job!

Overall this is a great product. I usually only run one tool at a time and this collector can easily handle it. The only problem that I have with it is that recently it has decided to turn itself on every so often( I'm guessing that there is a problem with the signal from the remote, but I'm not sure). I would definitely recommend going with a canister dust collector.

I found this machine to be all it is advertised to be. Assembly was easy, with clear instructions. The machine operates like a charm. Once I connected it to my Table Saw, which had my older collector previously, it cleaned out the saw dust and chips my old machine would not collect with out my assistance. The Jet machine sure has suckability! The noise level is amazingly quieter then my old 3/4/ horse collector. I recommend this machine for those who have a small basement type shop as I do. Thanks Jet.

If you can afford it then it is clearly worth it. I wish I bought it 2 years ago. I bought it without the remote but purchased remote separately from woodcraft.

I have had this DC for >3 years and find it works fine within limits. However, emptying the plastic bag is a big PITA. It is held in place with a flexible metal band that stays in place by friction. Tucking the bag top under it is not easy- Jet needs to rethink this approach. I agree with other reviewers that the cannister top is great and is not sufficiently cleaned just using the paddles. I have used compressed air and just tapping the sides all around with an assembly hammer. Both work. I take the unit outside to change bags/filters as there is lots of fine dust that will get out. For the price it works great except for emptying the bag.

Rewire to 230V,

This review is from: JET 708626RCK DC-1100 1-1/2 Horsepower 1,100 CFM Canister Dust Collector with Remote, 115/230-Volt 1 Phase (Tools & Home Improvement)
I recently purchased the DC-1100C Canister Unit (without remote)and found the assembly very easy and was quite pleased with the quality of the product. However, I went to the supplied manual to make the necessary changes to operate the unit at 230V and upon removing the switch mechanism faceplate I did not see the wiring hook-up illustrated in the manual. At this point I assume that I must go one more step and go directly to the motor wiring to make the change (behind the switch mechanism). This would require cutting the nylon strap to gain access. I also assume that I should not make any changes to the On/Off switch wiring.Need help/clarification. Thanks

HOW TO REWIRE FOR 230V,
This review is from: JET 708626RCK DC-1100 1-1/2 Horsepower 1,100 CFM Canister Dust Collector with Remote, 115/230-Volt 1 Phase (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have not yet been able to use this product, since I can't figure out how to rewire it for 230V. On 115V it pops the 15 Amp breaker. The unit was super easy to assemble, but there are no instructions in the Owner's Manual for rewiring, and the diagram on the back of the manual is of no real help to me.I have a 30 Amp 230V circuit in my garage and over the years I have rewired my table saw, jointer and a previous dust collector for 230V, but in all those instances there was a procedure laid out in the manual.
