Jet Cabinet Saw - One Heck of a Machine,
By Bob "Pelkey" (Iowa) - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: JET 708715PK JTAS-10X50-W1 10-Inch Right Tilt 3-Horsepower Cabinet Saw with 50-Inch Xacta Fence, 2-Cast Iron Extension Wings, Table Board and Legs, 230-Volt 1-Phase (Tools & Home Improvement)
After spending a lot of time reviewing the many brands, features and owner comments about all the various makes of cabinet saws I selected the Jet. I have owned the saw for about 4 months now and I couldn't be happier with it. The fit and finish are excellent and the accuracy is dead on the mark. The 230 volt 3hp motor delivers plenty of power for whatever you want to feed it. Once setup and aligned the 50" Xacta fence with extension table is simple to use and extremely straight and accurate. Plan a quiet Saturday afternoon to setup the machine and get it running. I had no surprises during assembly and the saw itself was perfectly aligned right out of the shipping carton. Its worth mentioning that the ordering, shipping and delivery process was a real no-brainer. Amazon.com took care of the whole process. I added the HTC mobile base which allows me to put the saw easily where I want it. The cuts produced using the Forrest Woodworker II 40 tooth blade are smooth as glass and ready for glue up without sanding. If you're in the market for a top quality, professional grade woodworking machine, you can't go wrong with this one.

Jet table saws can do it all,

I originally had a 10" craftsman (their "top of the line") and returned it after one month. Bought the Jet and I love it! It was more expensive that the other saw, but 10 times better. The squareness of the blade to the miter grooves is EASY to adjust, as is the fence. They even had a spec sheet in the box with the runout and blade squareness for my saw hand written on it. I like that kind of quality control! Also, assembly was relatively straightforward

I purchased my Jet saw after reading several reviews on the internet comparing it mostly to Delta saws. It was cheaper than the Delt and came with a dust chute which was extra on the Delta. But when it came time to assemble my saw, I noticed that the front fence rails weren't goint to fit - wrong parts. After 2 months of waiting for replacement parts (I gues a lot of saws went out with the wrong parts), I received the new parts. They were wrong too! I then was sent a whole new set of fence rails. All this took about 4 months after I ordered my saw - good thing I don't make a living with it! Then I went to use it. I couldn't zero the fence to the blade because out of all my rails, I didn't use the one with sloted holes to get enough travel to get the scale to read zero. I had to take off the front two rails and start over. Then I went to put a saw blade on. It wouldn't fit. Arbor was a little too big. Jet told me to just sand it down myself with some sandpaper (while the arbor was turning). That didn't sit well with me. Once I was finally ready to saw my first piece of wood. The tried to adjust the fence and I had to use two hands to pull or push the fence to where I wanted it. My old Grizzly contractors saw has a micro adjust knob and the fence stays parallel to the blade as it is moved. The Jet fence doesn't. Do I spend another more money on a decent aftermarket fence?! On the plus side the 3 HP motor is smooth and powerfull, and the up/down/tilt are solid & smooth. The table top is finished nicely. Overall, I probably should have gotten a Grizzly w/deluxe ShopFox fence for even less $, or the Delta. Internet reviews don't all tell the whole story. I was a bit disappointed.
