James Brown will always live on thru my Brain. This entire Compilation has so many Grooves you can't even put down. This Godfather is so Talented and can barely put you on the Run. "Ain't It Funky Now", "Make It Funky" (very strong), "My Thang", "The Big Payback" (my all-time favorite), etc... are there for you. Go check it out. Long lives the Vocalist, Artist, Musician, Instrument, Writer, Producer, Arranger, Composer, Activist, and Most Recognized Person. This Brother's Legacy cannot be missed.

This was my first real introduction to James Brown .... Forget Papa's got a brand new bag and all that. These tracks have a groove that wont quit. No wonder so many rap artists have sampled these songs. Sex Machine is here as well as more obscure stuff like Funky Drummer and Aint it Funky. I just love to hear James rap about everything from "Brand New Funky President." to "Neckbones and Candied Yams!"

Anyone who does not own a James Brown record should at least get this. Makes for sweaty smokin' party music too.

No argument about the value of this CD's contents: the Sample generation naturally should have these tracks in his or her collection. I feel, however, that "Sex Machine" and others from that '70 to '71 period should, at this point, be represented by previously unreleased recordings presumed to have been made during at the "Revolution of the Mind" sessions made at the stage of the Apollo in July of 1971. The recently issued "Hot Pants" from one of those shows is enough proof for me!
