Collection of hits from 71-72, August 5, 2002
This review is from: 70's Radio Hits 6 (Audio CD)
All original hits. The songs on this CD are all wonderful, considering their breadth of style. Song list (since it's not listed):
1. Brand New Key - Melanie
2. Clean Up Woman - Betty Wright
3. Jungle Fever - Chakachas
4. Nice To Be With You - Gallery
5. Suavecito - Malo
6. I Gotcha - Joe Tex
7. Hot Rod Lincoln - Commander Cody & Lost Planet Airmen
8. Oh Girl - Chi-Lites
9. How Do You Do? - Mouth & MacNeal
10. Rock Steady - Aretha Franklin
This collection of hit songs is especially interesting. Humor songs are well represented in Hot Rod Lincoln and I Gotcha. Funky, danceable numbers are included in Rock Steady, Clean Up Woman, and the risque Jungle Fever. Oh Girl is a classic soul ballad, whereas the soft Suavecito has a slight Latin flair. Brand New Key and How Do You Do could be described as cutesy, whereas Nice To Be With You is good mainstream pop. Many of these songs are otherwise hard to find. I recommend this CD to anyone who likes great early 70s hit songs.
