4.0 out of 5 stars IT IS WORTH A LISTEN AND THE PRICE!
I agree that it is not perfect, but, it is worth the price and I am a BIG 70's buff and grew up with all these songs and even had most of the 45's. You can tell that it is the original artists. They tried to add more music or background vocals, but they are not disstracting to the songs. I think it was a great attempt, I too just wish they would have used the original...

1.0 out of 5 stars One star is too high of a rating
One star is too much. These are the original artists, but not the original renditions. Only three (3) are the original releases. The rest are rehashed and sound terrible. You'll get more enjoyment sitting by the radio hoping the oldies station will play the song you want to hear.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Be Fooled! These are NOT the versions you remember!!, July 2, 1998

I bought this 3-CD set, thinking that I would get a great compilation of the songs I used to play on the radio back in Ohio -- WRONG! These are "all new stereo recordings" and they ain't that great. if you remember these songs -- note for note and nuance for nuance -- like I do, steer clear of this one. You will be sorely disappointed. Even some of the notes are wrong in these new arrangements!! Original Artists is simply not a true representation. The Rhino collections are what you want if you like to relive old memories.

Don`t waste your time and money on this compilation. What a cheap shot to take the consumers money. Read the very fine print, it does have a disclaimer but you really have to look for it. Shame on the distributor!!

1.0 out of 5 stars 70'S CROCK, February 4, 2000

Not at all as I would have expected. I was very disappointed. All they did was speed up the song so they could get more songs per CD. It sounds like the chipmunks singing.

If you're looking for some wonderful old tunes sung the way you remember, this aint it. "All selections are new stereo recordings, except ..." for a few of them. A big disappointment. Even done by the same people, THEY ARE DIFFERENT! NOT AS GOOD! HAMMED UP! Keep looking.

1.0 out of 5 stars I agree, don't bother, July 15, 2003

MADACY, the company that makes this CD box set, does not include the original songs, but remakes. I bought this set because it was was cheap. Cheap is exactly what I got. Try the "Have a Nice Day" series..

This CD is horrible. I love 70's music and was really looking forward to getting this. I was so disappointed when the songs weren't the original renditions. It's the same artists, yes, but the songs are not good. Don't waste your money! I returned mine!

There are several songs on this collection that is really hard to find anywhere and on Show and Tell, Precious and Few and Easy Come, Easy Go you will note an * that indicates the original version. It is worth having in your 70's collection, if you are a collector like myself...GO FOR IT!
