LEDs are slowly getting better,
This review is from: GE 73153 1-Watt Energy Smart GU10 LED Light Bulb (Tools & Home Improvement)
So I actually bought the 4-watt version of this light bulb from a local retailer for a few bucks more than the price of this 1-watt. So my review is actually of the 4-watt version.
The bulb that I have does give off pretty good amount of light, but it is a bit narrower of a beam than the halogen I replaced. Its also that very cool white, not the warmer light I was used to. That being said, though it was a little pricey for a single bulb, it is very energy efficient, and I am willing to put up with a slightly narrower beam, only slightly dimmer than my 50-watt halogen, and the cool white light. I would buy this item again, though hopefully prices will start to drop on LED technology...

This review is from: GE 73153 1-Watt Energy Smart GU10 LED Light Bulb (Tools & Home Improvement)
After reading about led lights in shopsmart.(which is a great mag.) put out by consumers report, which I like also. I ordered 6 of these lights. I replaced the halogen bulbs and was very mad at the amount of light put out by these. The light was very dim and the quality(color) was horrible, a blueish tint. If whatever you're lighting is more than 2 feet away don't bother. When paying 3x the cost you would hope for close to the same results. but it wasn't meant to be. The above mag. said that led light bulbs will improve and become cheaper which is to be expected. I suggest waiting until that time to try led light bulbs. If you can't wait buy 1 only one and try it out first I think you will agree that my review is accurate.
