Very Close to Reveal Incandescents,
This review is from: GE 75406 13-Watt CFL Spiral Reveal Light Bulb, 60-Watt Equivalent (Tools & Home Improvement)
These reveal cfl bulbs are pretty close to the reveal incandescents. I put one of these reveal cfl's in the same fixture as a reveal incandescent and could only tell a small difference between the two. The cfl was a little more yellow than the incandescent. I do not know what other reviewers are talking about when they say these reveal cfl's are not even close to reveal incandescents. All and all, a negligible difference.

I've been waiting for a CFL bulb that has the right color temperature and cast. When I saw the Reveal brand for CFL, I looked at Home Despot, but they only had Philips "natural white". So, when the 13 watt Reveals showed up on Amazon, I ordered a 2-pack. I have two reveal incandescents in my family room and I love the color. I did a comparison with the Reveal CFL in one lamp, and the Reveal 3-way set to 50 watts. They look nearly identical - in fact, the CFL has a bit more of the reddish color that I like. It is also slightly brighter than the 50 watt. I'm extremely happy. You can't tell there is a CFL under the lamp shade.

I was excited to find these new CFL bulbs by GE. I was disappointed to find that despite the premium price, these bulbs don't look much different than standard a "soft white" CFL (±3000k). They have a more yellow cast than Reveal incandescent bulbs. The Reveal CFL bulbs may come closer to matching traditional (non-Reveal) incandescent bulbs. Like most florescent bulbs, they still suffer from a lower CRI than a traditional bulbs. This makes some colors dull (blue and red), while exaggerating others (green and yellow). If you must use CFL's and you want ones that come close to Reveal incandescent bulb, try these BlueMax Sunset 14w CFL. The Bluemax Sunset bulbs are not perfect and still have minor color issues but they are what the Reveal CFL's should have been.

I picked up a couple of these mostly out of curiosity. They're somewhat interesting. They come close to the light color of a typical incandescent (well, the Reveal incandescent) without looking yellow, but they aren't as white or clear as a bright white CFL either. I'd say that they're roughly in between a typical bright white CFL and a soft white CFL. The bulb itself, best I can tell, doesn't use any specialy Neodymium glass like the incandescent Revel bulbs do, likely because none is needed. To change the color temperature of a CFL, you just change the phosphors being used in it. Ignition is nearly instant, with no initial flicker.
Overall, I'd say most people would be better served by purchasing a bright white CFL that costs 1/4 the price of these. It will be closer to natural daylight without being too white for most people. The only reason to spend as much as these bulbs cost is if you're really attached to the yellowish light color of a standard incandescent. If that's the case, these are the CFL bulb to get. I can't rate these bulbs poorly though, as their instant turn on is nice, and they achieve nicely what they were intended to do, which is give the roughly same light output as a incandescent bulb does.

Totally disappointed! I've been buying regular Reveal bulbs for years now, probably since they first came out and love them for their color. I am so disappointed with the Reveal CFL spiral bulb because its yellow just like all the others out there. I was going to replace my current cool white CFL (which is yellow tinted too) with the Reveal but there was no difference! GE needs to re-do these bulbs!

Are we reviewing the same bulb?,
This review is from: GE 75406 13-Watt CFL Spiral Reveal Light Bulb, 60-Watt Equivalent (Tools & Home Improvement)
I am afraid I haven't had the same experience most reviewers seem to. When I saw the Reveal brand on a cfl, I was thrilled. I love the Reveal incandescents - the light is so good, so cheery and true to colors. When I first screwed one of these cfls in, I thought "Fabulous! Just like a Reveal!" Then noticed that about 30 seconds later, the light changed to the point my skin looked jaundiced! Rotated in another one - same result. This is a standard fixture, has never had a problem. I can only conclude either I got some duds, my profession has made me more sensitive to light/color than others, or Mercury is Retrograde. Doubt I'll try these again - great brand, bad new product exploiting it.

Finally a CFL (compact fluorescent) that doesn't make the inside of my house look like a it's being lit by a street light or gymnasium lighting. These have been the bulbs I've been waiting for. I have the Reveal incandescents in my house sprinkled in with CFL's made by Sylvania and Westinghouse. The quality of the light output from the Reveal CFL's finally means I can go all CFL through my home and will be phasing out incandescents. Honestly I can't tell the difference between the Reveal CFL's and the Reveal incandecents. If there is a difference you'd have to be really hypercritical. They cast a much better light than even the crazy expensive Ott-lite brand CFL bulbs. I have tried probably 8-10 different brands of CFL's and these are hands down the best in my opinion.

I've been fan of the GE Reveal Incandescent Bulbs for several years. I decided to give these bulbs a try and was happy with the light. I added one to a fixture with 3 other Reveal incandescents and it's pretty close to the others, with a very pleasant light.
My only consternation is that I'd logged on to Amazon to stock up, but it was $6 more than what I had paid at Lowes, so I for one will not be buying them here.

These are marginally whiter than incans of the same equiv wattage. It is a very clean natural color that we are all used to. I love these!
