Fantastic! Excellent melodic and vocal trance!,

This is true trance. It's been so techno-rized nowadays, but this is the real deal. If you like uplifting, melodic, morning, or vocal trance this is an absolute must-by. It's so hard to get this kind of music nowadays. Paul Van Dyk and Tiesto - their music is so hard and fast now. Yes, they can produce stuff like this and of this quality... but they are off in a different direction most of the time.I don't know why some people think because this is NOT a million beats per minute and doesn't have an earth-shaking bass line that this isn't good. Believe me this CD is great. Everything flows nicely... Armin doesn't try to do too much on the CD. It has a nice warm feel. It's the kind of music that you can share with just about anyone. Not just a club-lover. You can listen to this at work, doing chores, chilling, hanging out or even when you are in the mood to dance. Excellent song selection and vocals. Not too much of anything. The start of the CD is just delicious. Armin, keep playing and producing music like this... don't follow everyone else. There is a definite huge audience for this. The death of this type of trance has been greatly exaggerated. If you stop making music like this, who will? Fantastic CD! Put this on and let it caress your troubles away.

thumping trance,

Armin's studio album is packed with energetic, powerful tracks like "Precious", "Blue Fear" and "Communication" right alongside beautiful, more dreamy Chicane-esque vocal tracks with a few light breaks thrown in for fun.
Since every single track on this CD is a winner, I'd have to rate it as one of the best trance compilations out there. To experience this album in all its awesome power, take a long drive across the desert, crank it out at max volume, and get totally transported to another place (It works. I've tried. :)

This Was Released for DJs....INSTANT CLASSIC....,
By "4x4beats" (sub-urban NY) - See all my reviews

AVB would kill me for saying this, but this LP has one objective: to get in DJs Record Boxes (eerr, CD wallet).... This is not a continous, seamlessly mixed AVB stormer.... It is a collection of his works, un-mixed, basically for DJs to DO damage with on their Pioneer CDJ-1000s. Mad sympathy for the casual trance afficionado who was looking for a phat CD to groove out to.... Its not. The tracks are signature AVB productions, if you like Armin, you'll love this CD. It is worth purchasing for BlueFear2003 alone; but you'd have to know about Blue Fear the original to agree. Track's 2, 5, and 13 and headed staright for the dance floor; some other tracks, while from a musical standpoint very tight, may have been intended to go straight to Dutch/European popradio. Overall, this is an excellent LP that will solidify the world-wide following + hype surrounding AVB. Maybe I love this album cause the man himself gave me a free, signed copy of it @ the NYC release party @ ARC. If you like AVB it aint even a question as to whether or not it is worth purchasing....................

I'm a relative new fan of Armin but just love his style. This CD delivers the smooth flowing quality that any trance fan out there would love. Track after track, Armin pumps it out with incredible precision. Each song gets better; the CD ends with Slipstream, just awsome deep beats, heart pounding. You will not be disappointed.

Solid start to finish,

This is a solid effort. There isn't any filler and all the tunes make their appearance at just the right time. You won't find yourself fast forwarding through half the tracks after 10-20 listens, at least I don't. If you like PVD "Global" or Tiesto "Nyana - CD 2" you'll most likely dig this.

BURNED WITH DESIRE,

First off I am a HUGE TRANCE JUNKIE. Secondly, I tend to buy CD MAXIs or 12". I stay away from DJ CDs, especially when it's their own, and not a mix of a bunch of artists. WHY? Beacuse it has been my experience that they very often contain one or two good songs, which get remixedand released, and the rest is usually useless. Thankfully rules are made ot be broken. I have to be honest and say I bought this CD because I saw that JUSTINE SUISSA did vocals on some of the traxx. JUSTINE is amazing and I got to know her through some of her work with OCEANLAB!!! I honestly love her vocals, and respect her as much as I do JAN JOHNSTON. VICTORIA HORN also does a kick [rear] job on the trac WAIT FOR YOU. I bought this CD figuring I could at least lose myself in JUSTINE'S angelic vocals. I was utterly surprised to see that this whole CD was STORMING! It gives us vocal and nonvocal trance of the highest quality with beautiful female vocals which are void of cheesiness. But beyond that, teh soundscape of the traxx is top notch. If you like trance, BUY THIS! This CD is a little piece of Heaven for your ears. TRUST ME! Now that we have these traxx, lets get some mixes out there for some of those female vocal traxx!!! Nothing like a good 8-10+ minute remix to really get things going!

Not your typical trance album...,
By
This review is from: 76 (Audio CD)
In fact, it's not the AVB you're used to. It seems that this time around, AVB has created more of a mainstrem album that is appealing to those who are fans of dance tunes in general. This is unfortunate for me, who prefer uplifting trance tunes that AVB usually spins, as he does in his live sets. Don't get me wrong, this album has some great assortment of tracks, from mellow, chill songs to Euro-trance-esque tunes. It would be interesting to see how he mixes tracks from this album into his club sets. There are some gems to be found in this album, especially those that feature System F and/or Justine Suissa. Just don't expect this album to be a one long set, full of build-ups for which clubbers crave and live.

The dying sound of Trance...,
By
This review is from: 76 (Audio CD)
Being a huge Trance fan I couldn't wait to get this album, But it confirmed my fears that Trance, as a musical form, is dying a slow and painful death. Armin has produced some of the best singles (Communication, Touch me - under the guise of Rising Star) that the whole Trance movement had to offer, but I was disappointed with "76" and I tend to agree with the previous reviews. Although not as horrendous as System F's utterly dreadful new album, Together, this is just too poppy and, in places, is just too dull and laid back. It's not that it's a bad album, just boring. Nothing really leaps out at you. Some of the singing is very poor and the music lacks that certain punch and doesn't grab you on an emotional level that is basically the very basis of good Trance music. The single, Yet another day, is perhaps the strongest track but even that only really came alive on the excellent Riva remix on the single. A shame, but I can only hope that maybe Armin's best work is yet to come. Oliver Lieb this ain't! For now, if you want a really bangin', superb sounding commercial Trance CD, I suggest you use Amazon and purchase Darude's new album, "Rush"...now that I was impressed with!! 3 stars i'm afraid...I so wanted to give it more!!

This reminds me of that Aurora CD - Dreaming,
This review is from: 76 (Audio CD)
I was so excited when I saw this album sitting on a shelf at Hastings for $14.99. I picked it up instantly with no hesitation. I realize now I should have. But it was Armin Van Buuren. He is the GOD of uplifting high-energy trance tracks. He takes mellow songs and remixes them to make a dancefloor filler! Well when the CD started up, I heard a nice intro chill song. Now this is usual for a good trance CD, gets you in the mood. Then track 2... chill out. Track 3 comes along and it's a great song. But I already own the single and I move on. A chilled-out vocal song, next... okay.. not that high energy. on to track 6: for System F, this is very low-key. Track 7 might as well be Track 4. Track 8 isn't bad but could get a lot better. Track 9, eehhh. Track 10, 11, 12, and 13 are great. But I didn't buy the album to have 3-4 great tracks. I bought it expecting it all to be great dancefloor-friendly trance tunes. To my surprise it isn't. I hope some remixers get ahold of the Justine Suissa tracks because those have potentional if Rank 1 or Above & Beyond (Oceanlab) remixed them. But usually that's Armin Van Buuren's job! I admire him for exploring another genre but this is his first full-produced, non-mixed CD. He shouldn't experiment on that one.
