I recently purchased these for my son, who is 2 and a half. He's not the most linguistically advanced, and everything I read has told me to give him blocks. He has lots of other educational toys (train sets, modeling clay, play kitchen, puzzles, 500+ books, art supplies, alphabet blocks, etc.) so I put off getting building blocks thinking we had enough. I was wrong. Already, just a few days into owning them, he has played with them constantly, building roads and tunnels for his cars, and towers to knock down, talking the whole time. Even though he isn't ready to notice the fractional relationships between the pieces, or all the possibilities for building available with the variety of pieces, I love how much room he has to grow into them. They are clearly really high quality, and I know they will last for years. Thrilled with the purchase!

The blocks are very well made all with carefully rounded edges. The wood is very smooth and splinter free. The block set is heavy as a whole unit but easy for a child to stack individually. Amazingly it is easily repacked in its original box for storage. If buying as a gift have it sent directly to the recipient as it is costly to re-ship.

No cheap paint to deteriorate. Nice, dense wood. Smooth finish. Rounded edges and corners. Reasonably precise milling. Good variety of shapes. Pretty much everything building blocks should be.

The only possible problem I can see is you might wind up wanting to get a second set. The single set is plenty for our two children to have fun with, but I suppose if you want to get extreme with your creations, you might want more blocks.

If you're satisfied with buildings that aren't taller than you, one set should be enough. :)

These blocks were the perfect present for our 18 mo. He loves to stack them and knock them down, and they really get the whole family down on the floor to play together. I was going between buying the foam blocks so he wouldn't get hurt and these wooden blockg. I am SO glad I chose these. He loves to play with them, and even though they are wood, he hasn't gotten hurt. Plus they will last longer than foam ones, since he is still teething! No chunks can get bitten off of them. We are looking forward to many, many years of fun with these blocks. His hand eye coordination is already getting better, and its been less than a month! We LOVE them. I highly recommend them to anyone thinking about buying them - BUY THEM!!

my son (4years old) recieved these blocks as a christmas gift from mom and dad and he simply adores them. they are very durable and well made. no sharp corners, splinters or defects, plus they have no smell at all and they are very high quality. there are lots of fun shapes for him to create different styles of houses and castles. his 2 year old sister plays with them and easily builds towers, and his 7 year old brother plays with them as well to create elaborate dwellings and hide outs for their imaginext people. i reccomend this set of blocks very highly.... i think they are well worth the price. it has been almost 6 months of hard play (every single day!) and they still look as new as when they came out of the package!

I looked at several sets and am so happy that I purchased these blocks. They are fantastic. These are full sized blocks not the mini blocks that so many sets seem to be. They are great quality, no rough edges. My 3 yo loves building with these so much I'm thinking of buying another set. A few times a day I hear "mommy, will you please play blocks with me?" This is the one activity I have found gets the whole family playing so nicely together. I only wish we'd bought them sooner.

These are some high quality blocks. I've got three kids - 4, 3, and 10 months, and they all love them. My husband loves them too. We've spent hours playing with them - sometimes it's one or more of the kids, sometimes mom and dad get involved, and sometimes I catch dad playing with them when the kids aren't around or have moved on. (He's just a big kid anyway.)

My boys, ages 6 and 3, love these blocks, and I do, too. The wood has a soft feeling. they are a good assortment of sizes for building, and easy for both to handle. I was looking for a good block set, and am thrilled with these.

Santa brought these blocks to my 5 year old son and he just loves them. They are the standard unit size which is great for making large towers, and what 5 year old doesn't enjoy that? There are plenty of blocks in the set to keep both of my sons happy and playing together. I think these blocks will be in our family for years.

My daughter-in-law suggested I buy the Guidecraft block set for my grand children's' birthday. It was a big hit and they are continuing to build and play with the beautifully made wooden blocks many weeks after their birthdays.
