Mi-Sex were one of the most underrated bands to come from New Zealand (Australia readily adopted them as their own and they had a fairly successful career including a No.1 smash Computer Games). This compilation showcases nearly all their singles releases plus an album track, Graffiti Crimes. If you're a fan of New Wave music the compilation is for you. Some of it might seem a bit dated (the synth sound features heavily on most tracks) but that's part of its charm. "But you don't care" was their first single and is a nice little rocker, somewhat different from their trademark sound. "Computer Games" became their signature hit with the pulsating sysnthesizer and guitar riffs complimented by Stan Gilpin's unique phrasing. "Castaway" (also a minor US hit) marries both rock and new wave with a soaring chorus. Some other highlights are Falling in and Out", the somewhat cheesy "People" but a song I remember fondly from my younger years and what would have to be an all time hidden classic "Blue Day"' A combination of a cool acoustic guitar, with Stan singing both bass and harmony that explodes into a power pop song. For fans of megamix, look out for the amusingly titled "Non-Stop Sex" to round off a fine representation of their relatively short (3 albums, I think) career.
