Can make you fall asleep.,

I just got this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He loves it. I think it has just about anything you might need, all in one item. If only it had a built-in refridgerator, it would be perfect. The messager is not wimpy (I was afraid it might be). The light is brite for the reader, but not disturbing for anyone else that might be in bed at the same time. The pockets hold a book or two, along with the remote control for the heater and messager. If you know someone who reads in bed alot, this is a great item.

I got this chair for a whole different reason,

Okay, I've only had this chair for a week and used it about 4 times, but i'll tell you what i think so far and kinda address some points i've read in other reviews. READ THE LAST POINT IF YOU'RE A MOM or MOM TO BE or...know one :)
1) the fabric is a silky, stretchy, shiny material. Pretty comfortable to me. it does look like it would be easy to clean. as others have said, it would be super if it came in a plush velvet or chenille, but it doesn't and this is actually really comfortable. mine came in black just as the picture on Amazon. 2) the light on my chair is *NOT* flimsy in any way. its strudy as can be and more than adequate to read by. my 3 small children have been messing with it and haven't been able to cause the slightest damage to it yet and that's sayin' something. 3)i LOVE the heat feature and think it works VERY well. it gets my back hot enough to make a big difference when i'm achey or sore without it getting too hot where you'd have to turn it down. 4) the massage doesn't feel a spa treatment at the Four Seasons hotel...but it gets the job done. its more of a relaxing vibration and in conjunction with the heat is a very pleasent and helpful experience. i always hate to get up from it and look forward to sitting back down in it. 5)i have not tried to move it to the center of a room or anything to see how well it stands up on its own, i have mine on my bed where my bed pillows usually are and so the back is pressed up against my headboard. this works great and is how i intended to use it to begin with. 6)the big arms on the side *rock*. they could be extended slightly to be a little more useful (longer i mean) but its definately better than not having them at all and trying to hold your book in your lap with no support under your elbows. 7) honestly, i got this chair for a whole different reason that they probably never thought of....breastfeeding. it keeps my sitting upright, just the perfect amount. the arms on the side help keep my arms elevated perfectly to support my newborn in the perfect position to breastfeed...AND the BEST part of all...the heat and vibrations!! i'm still achey from the pregnancy and being up all night with feedings and the heat is *heaven* on my back...without having to mess with a heating pad slipping down the pillow and getting bunched up and having to fix it all the time. the vibrations lull both me and my newborn to sleep constantly. i highly recommend this for this purpose! it sure beats a Boppy or a nursing pillow! with extra perks for mom...when you need it most :) hope this helps someone...

Great concept but did not live up to its potential,

Unfortunately, this great concept was fatally marred by several gaping mistakes in craftsmanship and design. 1. The light was flimsy and cast a very dim yellow light. 2. The heater was so cushioned by the padding of the chair that I barely felt any heat. 3. The power supply did not give enough power to operate all 3 functions of the chair at once. (For example, if I turned on the heat or even the light, the massage feature will significantly weaken in its massage.) 4. The material on the chair itself slides against the skin and is not soft enough. It would have been nice if it had a more velour/chenille feeling material. 5. The balance of the chair. If I lend back on the chair, the arm cushions will angle up. The chair, at a scant 10 pounds, needs to be heavier so it is more sedentary and comfortable. Hope this helps! :)

Tranquility Zone does relax,

It's a comfortable backrest. The massaging (vibration) is concentrated in the small of the back. But it does feel nice and certainly relaxes and fits nicely in bed while you're watching tv. It's a product that's just nice to have. Mine was shipped mistakenly without an ac adaptor. The manufacturer (spi) sent me one right away. They're a good company. I would buy other products from this company.

I am 5'3" and the configuration of the back and neck rest work well for me. The light is enough in a dark room yet does not disturb my husband. I am happy with the support it provides when I want to sit up and read. Normal pillows just can't do what this does.
I also like the firmness of the cushion. Great product. Only thing I would add is a cupholder.

Just got it. Some observations:
1. I thought I had ordered a black one, based on the picture, but the actual item was gray. I'm still keeping it, but what the hell? 2. As many reviewers pointed out, it IS hard. Or 'stiff'. The cushions in it are not soft. But I wouldnt say that it is uncomfortable. I actually rather liked it. It gives very good back support, and helps keep you awake when youre reading. Helps the posture. Its definitely not uncomfortable. I could even see myself sleeping in it if I were tired enough. 3. The big fat arms on the side are a great luxury. Most bedrests do not come with such side-support as this. They dont extend out too far tho (the picture is a bit misleading). You'll have enough room to put your elbows on it, thats about it; not your whole forearm. 4. The attached light is pretty cool. The stalk is made of coils of metals. It isnt cheaply built. And works well enough to read by. 5. The heat and massage functions - They're okay, though i'm not going to use them much. The massage function is fun for a while. Its not going to cure your lumbar problem, but you might turn it on now and then as a luxury. In sum: All bedrests should be like this. The days of piling up pillows behind me are over!

What Comfort!,
By Anita T. Strange (Morristown, TN United States) - See all my reviews

This product is perfect for sitting up in bed to read, write, or watch TV. It has every little ol' thing you might need: pockets for glasses, books, pens, mail, etc. The light works wonderfully well for reading, and the padding is just right. Also the heat and massage features are blessings. Plus, the price is reasonable for such an excellent item. I suggest two: one for yourself and one for your bed partner. It is certainly a lovely Christmas gift.

Not Very Comfortable,
By lauriej "lauriej" (Rohnert Park, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SPI 7910 Tranquility Zone Ultimate Relaxation System (Health and Beauty)
This product is comfortable, however only when you put a regular pillow where your back rests. The wires are very hard, and the pillow makes it hard for the massage aspect of the product to work well. The light is always hitting me in the head also. This product does do what is is supposed to, however it is not the most comfortable product on the market. If I could do it over agian this is not the product I would choose.

I got this about a month ago and everybody who comes over I make sit in it and EVERYONE, myself included, falls asleep in under 10 minutes when the massager is on. A book light - a massager - a heater - this thing rocks and it isn't that much more than a regular bedrest without any of these features. BUY IT NOW - seriously.

1. i guess they come in different colors and you don't have any control over which one you'll get -- mine came in heather grey, flannel type of fiber. soft and comfy.
2. this pillow is for someone small and slim -- i am 5'6 and 115lbs and it is a pretty tight fit for me. i can't image a bigger person fitting in -- it is really constricting as it is... and it does not adjust. 3. back support is rather poor -- completely missing low back support. you will have to stick in another small pillow there if you have some back problems. 4. lamp is ok to read, especially if you are reading at night with someone else in the room and don't want to wake them up. not very bright, but comfortable. 5. heat feature is good, pleasant. 6. massage feature is terrible -- it is like being attached to a concrete drilling device. it makes noise and shakes you to the core. i don't even imagine who would like such a torture. 7. so, in sum -- (+) nice fiber if you get it in grey; comfortable light; pleasant heat feature; sturdy firm support; (-) does not contour your back well and does not give any lumbar support; i would call their massage feature a torture, not a relaxation device; hand support bars are short; DEFINITELY made for a small boned and slim person, not even for an average sized person. SO-- just get a cheaper pillow. there may be better choices there. |
