Odd collection of songs that just work, Spear headed by The Smithereens, July 29, 2006
This review is from: 7th Inning Stretch (Audio CD)
If you can't tell By Pat Dinizio on the cover, The Smithereens played a big part in putting this album together for the ESPN special "7th inning stretch". The Smithereens re-recorded 3 of their most classic tracks, and gave them a new grittier sound. Add songs like Ted Nugent's Cat Scratch Fever, Bad To The Bone by George Thorogood, and the 1950's tune Istanbul by They Might Be Giants, and you have a odd collection of songs to listen to that most people just wouldn't put together at one time. But they did here. It is a good collection, andI must see the TV show now to understand the underpinnings. Smithreen Fans, don't miss this album.
