The 7th of never was Chastain's third release after releasing two cds on Shrapnel records for Mike Varney.His previous releases Mystery of Illusion and Ruler of the Wasteland were under the Shrapnel label.7th of Never was his first Chastain release under Leviathan records.He owns Leviathan and Diginet Music.The reason is he wants to put out his music and have complete control.He was offered big label deals but has no desire to be a rock star.He just wants to write music his way.Chastain 7th of Never is his finest release ever.I own all of his releases,but this one just shreds.In fact they all shred but this one is his best.It has Leather Leone (former lead singer for Rude Girl) on vocals,Mike Skimmerhorn on bass and Ken Mary on drums.Of course one of the best kept secrets on guitar David T. Chastain.Unless you followed metal in the 80's few people realize how great Chastain is.His influences are Iron Maiden and Metallica.He just has his own style.He is a fantastic musician and just listen to the clean leads and great solos.I asked a friend who has their own band.He practices no less than 8 hours a day.He gave me three names of guitarists. Chastain,Tony MacAlpine and Yngwie J. Malmsteen.They were three of the best at this time 1987.This is one of the great metal cds ever.A concept cd about the final battle between good and evil.If you own metal this belongs in your collection.It is always in my car along with Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.Check out Voice of the Cult and For Those Who Dare his next two releases.He also has instrumental cds listed under David T. Chastain.Don't pass up a chance to own one of the legendary guitar players best work.
