excellent CP value Eee PC, December 9, 2008
This review is from: ASUS Eee PC 901 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 12 GB Solid State Drive, 20 GB Eee Storage, XP Home) Sakura Red (Personal Computers)
Cons first:
Other than small keyboard that needs some days to get used to it, I don't think about any shortage of this eeepc 901. Oh! and one minor thing: there's NO zif connector in this version 901. so sad!
But be sure to touch the real machine and feel it -- I get used to it in 2 days (of course with slower speed typing) but it's case by case.
Pros as major:
If I turn off wireless/bluetooth/webcam, the battery can be > 6hrs under 50% LCD brightness which is quite enough for normal use for me.
The factory default status will take only ~30 sec from pressing the power button to ready (SSD/HD light off)
It weights around 1.1~1.2 kg (with battery), which will be 300 g lighter than other 10" netbook with >5 hr battery life (20% off weight!)
Smaller size (than 10") and is easier to be carried. Around half size of a 12" widescreen Laptop (HP tx2000z as a reference here)
Beautiful color (personal feeling) with high quality processed surface, this limited version will make it unique so that you seldom see others use the same model or even the same color as yours.
Already preloaded every programs installed in D: so that there's more space for the windows system of C:
Enough basic programs are included.
LCD color is good and I don't feel painful to read on it -- just the same size of my 12" laptop.
D drive changable (8 GB MLC)
Sleeve protection bag is good quality, not cheap feeling.
==============
More comments for someone who wants to have a faster and longer life eeepc:
1. Change to 2 GB memory (DDR2-667 is compatible)
2. Install Ramdisk and move enviromental variables tmp\, temp\ to it
3. Also move the paging file to Ramdisk
4. Suggested: 1 GB for ramdisk, 512 MB for paging file.
It will significantly improve the processing speed.

Asus Netbook eePC901 with SSD, February 10, 2009
This review is from: ASUS Eee PC 901 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 12 GB Solid State Drive, 20 GB Eee Storage, XP Home) Sakura Red (Personal Computers)
Excellent purchase. Boots quickly and ideal computer for basic tasks, especially while on travel. Do not recommend for MS Office but works great with Open Office. Also loaded Slingbox software allowing remote viewing of televsion from my Tivo. Although SSD version may cost a bit more it is well worth it for light use. Heavy users who insist on using Microsoft's bloatware such as Office should opt for the hard drive version and expect slower performance.

Absolutely adorable, March 31, 2009
This review is from: ASUS Eee PC 901 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 12 GB Solid State Drive, 20 GB Eee Storage, XP Home) Sakura Red (Personal Computers)
This EEE PC is just the right size. It's small enough to fit inside my bag and also light enough that it's not cumbersome to carry around. Pefect for checking email, doing web video conferencing, watching tv shows online, etc. Especially good if you travel a lot. Battery lasts a long time (5-7h)...
The webcam is really clear and the wifi works well (I use it to video chat). The keyboard is a tiny bit small but you get used to it. The color is exactly as shown (very cute darkish pink) and I'm very happy with my purchase. Not many people have a pink netbook!
