Whirly Whirly, April 1, 2008
This review is from: 8 Foot Ornamental and Decorative Windmill (Misc.)
I was surprised all the parts were in a fairly small box, which arrived soon after I ordered. Happily, the fan itself was already assembled, and the rest was done in a couple hours. I made sure to lubricate the ball bearing race; I have a friend with a windmill that is frozen from lack of lubrication. The basic structure was a little confusing to assemble, only because the instructions were probably written in Asia or somewhere where English isn't the native language. Mainly, it was overkill on the obvious, so if you just bolt it up logically, you won't have any problems.
But do we ever love that puppy! I look out the window to see which way and how fast that Oklahoma wind is blowing several times a day. I mounted the three bottom legs with my own long spikes onto the stump of a pecan tree we cut down a couple years ago, and it's happy there.
This is a great little unit for the price. We love it.

Excellent Quality and Fair Price, October 21, 2007
This review is from: 8 Foot Ornamental and Decorative Windmill (Misc.)
Just what I was looking for in a garden windmill with excellent quality at a fair price. Good size at over 8' (not a toy), very well made with heavy gauge steel and properly weather primed and painted. I would buy #10 Lockwashers for ALL screws to insure longterm strength. I had all parts and instructions must have been redone since other review here, because mine were clear, readable, and precise. I had no problems with assembly. There is a top notch bearing for vertical wheel spin, but it would have been nice to have a true bearing, instead of friction, for the horizontal, turning spin motion. But hey, for the price I'm not complaining (I'll replace with a good bearing from the hardware store).
I would definitely recommend this product and would buy again from this manufacturer. I did a lot of research first and read reviews other places too - much higher priced so-called windmills are out there by other manufacturers costing more, may be smaller or toyish, poorer quality, and again over-priced for what they offer. Good Luck.

Cheap materials, October 31, 2008
This review is from: 8 Foot Ornamental and Decorative Windmill (Misc.)
Pictures are worth a 1000 words, but not in this case. The item is made of cheap materials. Once I assembled and put in the leg spikes, the first time a wind came up, it almost pulled the spikes right out of the ground. I have had to tighten all the screws and nuts to ensure this would stay together.
Might look good as an yard decoration (without spinning) but is cheaply constructed.
