It utilizes a 32-watt T8 fluorescent bulb (not included). The white acrylic diffuser snaps in place for easy access the the bulb. I wanted a 48" T-8 under cabinet lamp. I could not find it at Home Depot or Lowes. The light was delivered on time. It was easy to put together and install and looks nice. It's a bit pricey but I could not find any less expensive options. I recommend it and I am purchasing another.

The fixture is OK but I think the ballast is a Low Power Factor type, not a commercial high efficiency ballast. I am surprised that it has an Energy Star rating.
