Product Description

Product Description

Most converter failures can be traced directly to excessive heat. This accurate B&M temperature gauge comes with a light kit, color coded face, anti-glare enclosure, wires, terminals, sending unit and a T-fitting for easy installation.

From the Manufacturer

This remote oil thermostat will help maintain proper oil temperatures. When oil temperature is below 180°F, The valve bypasses 90% of the oil, allowing 10% to flow through the cooler to prevent possible air pockets. Above 180°F, the valve opens fully and flows 95% through the cooler.

Purchased and installed both a B&M SuperCooler and this transmission fluid temperature gauge. The installations were relatively easy however I suspected that the gauge was not reading correctly so I tested the sender and the gauge. My results indicated that the gauge reads approx 20% low on the low end of the scale and 20% high on the high end of the scale. It is fairly accurate at mid-scale (160-180 degrees). I think that this amount of variation is unacceptable and wrote 2 letters to B&M asking for their assistance in correcting this issue. They have not responded to either of my letters. Because of B&M's failure to respond I would not recommend this product and I would be hesitant to purchase any of their products. Poor customer service does not sell products.

Installed gauge with little difficulty. Sending unit defective. B&M sent new sending unit, needle sticks on gauge. B&M--when I finally got to speak to someone--said Amazon sold me a defective gauge, and offered no further assistance. I'm past the 30-day return period, so am out lots of time and 60 bucks. B&M used to have a solid reputation. However, I would advise anyone other than a masochist to avoid buying this product.

works just fine and was relatively easy to install (it does involve cutting the return line on the transmission and installing the sending "T".) Mounting the gage inside is also slightly above novice stage because the holder needs to be on a flat surface. You also need to find a keyed fuse slot so the gage is activated when you turn the ignition switch. I just pulled the radio/cd fuse and put the wire inside the slot and secured it with the fuse. There are "piggy back" fuse terminals you can buy at an auto store that would be a better way to secure the wire.
I'm sure there are a lot better gages out there, but this one had all the necessary parts to do a complete installation and was the most cost effective. I'm not sure how accurate the gage is, but it does give you a reasonable measurement of how your transmission is doing heat wise. If you do a lot of towing it is probably a wise move to get an indicator of whats going on. The main "killer" of transmission life is excessive heat. Having a gage to monitor your transmission heat can tell you something early on and maybe prevent disaster down the road. ps if it runs above 200 deg., it will likely need a transmission cooler or a secondary cooler. (also pretty easy to install and not too expensive)

This is the second one I've had to buy in just over a year. I put it in a Jeep that I hardly ever drive and the gauge part of the unit went out just over the 1 year warranty period. The new unit looks like the fixed the problem of the sending unit grounding out accidentally. Hopefully this is the last one I have to get. The price was right and the shipping was fast.

I have purchased B&M products since the 1960's because of their quality and performance. This is a must have item if you tow a trailer of any type. The installation was simple and straight forward. My installation was made simpler as I also installed a larger capacity B&M cast aluminum transmission pan that had a threaded hole for the sensor.

I ended up returning this unit. mostly because having an inline fitting won't give a suitable temp, as opposed to a sensor in the sump. The Ts supplied were also pretty bulky and should have some type of mounting bracket as I could fore see the weight causing a alum feeder line to crack.

I installed this on my motorhome for a cross country trip.. Worked fine for about 1.000 miles and then the needle just bounced all over the place for a few days, then it just quit working altogether.. Always liked B&M products but this one does not deserve to be called one...

I added tis to my CJ7 when a did a 350 turbo tranny conversion and added a tranny cooler. Gage works great and installation was very simple. Just cut into the new or existing tubing and install. I give it 4 stars because the backlight is not very bright.
