5.0 out of 5 stars the definitive 808 album, April 14, 1999

This review is from: 808:90 (Audio CD)
this is the original 90 released in the UK (the us version, utd state 90 featured most of the tracks here, plus some reworked tracks from the previous mini-lp, Quadrastate)... buy this before you buy utd state 90, if only to hear the original (and superior) version of Ancodia (the version on utd state 90 was the 'taters deep nit funky beat mix, featured originally on the Cobra Bora UK 12").

A defining moment in UK dance history...

5.0 out of 5 stars 808 state 90, March 25, 2000
This review is from: 808:90 (Audio CD)
This is the defining 808 state album, more refined than the Newbuild ep. Although 808 state's best work is the album EX:EL, this one is a must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Techno/House fans take notice, May 23, 2006
By
This review is from: 808:90 (Audio CD)
I have owned this CD nearly since the original release date. Of course 808 State has had many great releases over the years, but this could be the most important of them all. From a technoloy standpoint, this album was years ahead of many others. It was recorded before it was cool to sport your Dad's Mini-Moog. Also, their name came via Roland's TR-808 drum-machine. The analog outboard gear rears its ugly head throughout the album. Take note in Pacific 212 with the TR 909 beats. This is definitely a must have for all interested in knowing where techno and house came up out of Manchester, England and Detroit. This gets five thumbs up.
