Book Description

This is it. The final Level of the Game.
China in 80AD is the stage for the final showdown between Phoenix and Jade and their arch-enemy, Feng Zhudai.

Things don't start off so well, though. Jade is a prisoner, separated by vast distances from her companions; in the hands of Feng Zhudai himself. Phoenix and the others have to find her before they can even think of freeing her. What have they got to work with? How can they fight Feng Zhudai's incredible magical powers on his own home ground? How can they fulfill their quest to master the Yu Dragon, when they don't even know where to find it or what it looks like - or how to go about mastering a dragon?

To top it all off, they must stop Feng Zhudai from taking control of the Han Empire and the world. If he wins this round, it's all over. Everything and everyone they know and love will be destroyed - in both worlds.

With the fate of this world and their own in the balance, Phoenix and Jade have insurmountable odds stacked against them - and they keep getting worse. Feng Zhudai unleashes everything he has at them. Phoenix and Jade must make some tough decisions just to survive. Can they make the sacrifices required to win the game?
There's a twist at the end no-one will expect.....

4.0 out of 5 stars The finale July 27, 2012
By Jetpack
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
So we come to the conclusion of the excellent series. Jade and Phoenix learn a lot about themselves. And knowing is half the battle.

The book winds it's way excellently to the conclusion. Which, for me, was ultimately very unsatisfying. Bummer. Well, in my head, the ending goes a little bit differently. But I'm not a 12 year old boy, so I have different views. Marcus, Marcus, Marcus. Such a good character, but well, I can't say more. Too spoilery.

Definitely worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic conclusion to the series! August 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Review of the Book:
The conclusion was- AWESOME! I loved the unexpected twists and turns that the author provided and I really felt that the author allowed the hero and heroine to mature at the right time and place. They find themselves in a palatial prison and in the burial chambers of the famous Chinese terracotta army. From there its a whirlwind adventure as Phoenix tries to rescue Jade while Jade tries to find a way to end the game and go home. They face betrayal, self doubt, and failure but overcome their fears. They struggle to understand how they must defeat the evil wizard before its too late! Marcus and Brynn as always were faithful and awesome companions. Seriously would love to have Marcus as a friend in real life.
The author did a great job of tying up loose ends. I know the series is over but I hope that somehow there may be a way to go back to the world that the author has created. Its brilliant, new but recognizable, and full of adventure.

It is not often that I rate a book let alone a series with a 5 rating without hesitation. In this review I will discuss the series and this book. I downloaded all the series for free and my sincere thanks goes to the author for her generosity. I hope to buy the entire paperback series soon to have in my library if its ever printed.
This series was extremely creative in taking a hero and heroine through personal and external struggles to grow as individuals and to save the world from evil. Having familiarity with MMORPG gaming this story I think this is a perfect fit for this generation of youth. It has the right mix of magic, fantasy, and modern day gaming that many youth, especially boys may connect with.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Characters and Interesting Adventure July 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I just finished reading the last book, and the only concern I had was how long it took to end the book. It just seemed too many twists and turns. I tried to put myself in the mindset of a teenager while reading this series (which is why i brought the last book because it was good). And I have to say too much effort was put into the last battle and resolution. But I will add, don't change it.
As far as the Marcus/Jade part. She is 13 and still has to grow up. She needed to go home. Marcus would have been too far out of his depth to adjust to life in 2012 (assuming that is the year of the story ;-)) How would he have adjusted. Plus, he is 16 and Jade is 13. Besides unrequited love/first love makes life sooo interesting.
Good series, great characters (Marcus and Brynn) and good supporting characters (Jade and Pheonix). Hope your next set is just as good

Although this is listed as a rating for Book 5, I am going to rate the whole series. I would not recommend reading any of the books in the series without starting with Book 1. I don't think they do well as a stand alone read. Even if your not a gamer these are good reads. Each book flows into the next in series. The writer blended history and mythology and fantasy quite well. Actually, the more you know of history and mythology the more sense the books make. For a good bit of escapism this is a good series. It also easy to stop reading and restart without having to backtrack to pick up the train of thought. There is a good bit of violence throughout the series, so I would not advise this series for younger readers.

4.0 out of 5 stars 80AD book 5 May 19, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found this whole series a fun, clean read, which I really appreciate considering that's not too common now a day. I will admit the lack of self confidence from the girl can get frustrating at times, but it might be accurate to a girl of that age, and same with the overconfidence and easily frustrate-able-ness of the boy... But it was a fun read and I enjoyed the books! I read them all very quickly in a row. I do like how the characters learned something about themselves and that they were able to better themselves from the outcomes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice YA series, it's just that....
.... The character of Jade sucks. There is nothing even remotely young or even preteen about her. Her entire character sounds like an old world Italian mother of 3. Read more

There is a special style, but I liked the series very much. There is lots of action, history of different places and good psichological picture of the different characters.
