KT likes younger men, January 17, 2005
This review is from: 80's Ladies (Audio CD)
K T bucked all trends in popular music by emerging from obscurity in her mid-forties to become (briefly) a major star of country music. This was the album that catapulted her to stardom, deservedly so. Her musical background embraced a variety of musical styles so her music is contemporary country, eighties style.
K T wrote or co-wrote all the songs except the opening track, Wall of tears, which is a great song (co-written by the writer of Don't it make my brown eyes blue) but the album gets even better.
The first of K T's own songs, I'll always come back, is a wonderful ballad but the following track, Younger men, is perhaps the best song of the lot, being about the attraction to a middle-aged woman of younger men. While not uncommon in real life, this is an unusual topic for a song. Many American radio stations, run by middle-aged men who felt threatened by the song, refused to play this track.
However the title track, another song with strong appeal to women, got plenty of airplay and became a huge country hit. A couple of very romantic love songs (Do ya, Lonely but only for you) should please the men.
Old pictures (recorded by the Judds before K T became famous), Dr Dr and Two hearts are the other excellent songs that make up the album.
The big hits from this album have since been re-issued on a greatest hits collection (Songs from an ageing sex bomb) but this album is worth hearing in its entirety. If you enjoy eighties country music, buy this - if you can find it.

Good listen...Very Contemporory, September 18, 1998

This breakthrough album by K.T. Oslin demonstrates the ability of country music to be contemporary, and still maintain roots. The subject matter is country through and through but presented with a grand style and verve from this artist. I'm generally NOT a country fan, but this one's in my collection and I often catch myself humming sections. BUY IT!!!
