Received this book as a gift from my wife, who bought it looking for fun ways to connect with our soon-to-be-born daughter. Unfortunately, it was not made very clear on the product page that the book's content is dedicated to linking these activities (which usually really are fun, spontaneous ideas) to the Bible, Jesus Christ, and God. Now that's probably fine if you are Christian, but for those of us that are not, it means that roughly half the content of this book is useless. I don't need to ask my daughter how many Bible stories she can think of that relate to water, or how God showed his love for us yesterday.

This book should have been more clearly marketed as a book for fathers--but not all fathers, just Christian ones.

I was going to try and write a clever review about Rob and Joanna Teigen's book 88 Great Daddy-Daughter Dates.

Instead, I'm going to do this. Because it's straight to the point, just like their book.

I'm a dude.

I have two daughters.

More often than not, I'm at a loss when my wife asks (read "tells") me to "go do something with this girls."

I know I'm not alone.

Rob and Joanna have come to our rescue.

88 Great Daddy-Daughter Dates is filled with exactly what the title promises. It's more than that, though. Each idea is presented in an easy to read and understand format. The "Grab" part tells you what you'll need. The "Go" part tells you what you're going to do. And the "Grow" parts gives you a little lesson to learn with your special little girl. That's my favorite part. It even gives you a prayer!

So, there you have it. A no-frills review of a no-frills book.

If you're a dad to daughters, or a wife to a dad of daughters, or a friend of a wife of a dad...you get the point.

This book is exactly as advertised. And it's great.

You won't regret getting it.

Your children are only young for a short period of time. As parents, you have the greatest influence on your children from the very youngest of ages. Why not maximize that impact by being there to make great memories with your children and teach them important lessons along the way.
Each date lists the things needed, many of which are things that are likely already in the house, or easy to find. Some do cost money and/or require going out somewhere such as getting ice cream, going bowling, or working at a food pantry/soup kitchen. Secondly, all the dates give you an idea of what to do, helpful ideas, and reminders to encourage your daughter during the activity. Then there is a section entitled, "Grow" in which you sit down with your daughter to talk about what you did, and share some godly wisdom with her. Some of the lessons are more serious than others, such as explaining why you have rules to protect her, while others are just a time to encourage your daughter and have some fun.

This is a great gift for any father who wants to connect with his daughter. Often times, its not the desire that is lacking, but the ideas. And this book gives dads 88 different ideas to do. Some of these will be treasured memories for dads and their daughters and may even become family traditions. While the book is meant for fathers and their daughters ages 6-12, I could easily see dad's starting some activities at a much younger age and continuing long after they are out of the house.
