Product Description

Editorial Review

For us veteran toy reviewers, it takes a toy with a lot of ingenuity, play value, and raw appeal to make us yell "Hey wow! Neat!" while alone in a room. This, my friends, is one of those toys. This Geomag set includes 54 short plastic rods with magnets on each end and 32 small metal balls. Simple magnetism is the key to this truly captivating construction toy. In seconds, you will be constructing elaborate models that can be torn apart and altered quickly and efficiently. The kit is so addictive, and plain old fun, that you may not realize that it could also be a great tool for learning about geometry or even molecular structure. One word of caution: Hold on to the foam container the toy comes in; it’s perfect for making sure all those little metal balls don’t go rolling around the house. Factoring in all toy reviewing criteria, this is one of the best toys on the market today. --Charlie Williams

Believe it or not, I bought this as a birthday present for my husband, but it quickly became obvious that he would have to share with our two daughters, ages 5 and 8. I am not exaggerating when I say that from the moment he opened the box, the 3 of them have spent every spare moment building different shapes and entertaining themselves by simply playing with the magnets.

Not only are they having fun, but they are LEARNING and don't even know it!! I know of at least 3 occasions where one of the girls asked Daddy a question about how or why the magnets did something and off the trio went to the internet to investigate! My husband is a science fan, so he loves that the kids are so interested in this.

The pieces are very strong, but they are small, so I wouldn't recommend allowing younger children to play with them unsupervised. Keeping track of all the pieces is a chore, and with the price of this toy, you do not want to lose any of the magnets!

That being said, this was undoubtedly one of the best, well rounded toys I have ever purchased. I'm considering buying myself a set to keep at my office for entertainment during boring conference calls!!! Go buy it NOW.
