We gave each of our three sets of grandchildren a small set last year. Every one of them loves them, including their parents. All want more this year. The kids range in age from 3-15.. I want some too!

Believe it or not, I bought this as a birthday present for my husband, but it quickly became obvious that he would have to share with our two daughters, ages 5 and 8. I am not exaggerating when I say that from the moment he opened the box, the 3 of them have spent every spare moment building different shapes and entertaining themselves by simply playing with the magnets. Not only are they having fun, but they are LEARNING and don't even know it!! I know of at least 3 occasions where one of the girls asked Daddy a question about how or why the magnets did something and off the trio went to the internet to investigate! My husband is a science fan, so he loves that the kids are so interested in this. The pieces are very strong, but they are small, so I wouldn't recommend allowing younger children to play with them unsupervised. Keeping track of all the pieces is a chore, and with the price of this toy, you do not want to lose any of the magnets! That being said, this was undoubtedly one of the best, well rounded toys I have ever purchased. I'm considering buying myself a set to keep at my office for entertainment during boring conference calls!!! Go buy it NOW.

This item is so cool! Like most kids, my son loves to manipulate objects -there are the usual toys on the market to meet this fundamental need . All these products are great for stimulating dexterity and imagination. The 86 Piece Magnetic Geomag Set goes a step further than building sets though. Through the use of magnets there is a sort of science project aspect to this toy. Unique shapes also catch a child's desire to play and experiment - to test the limits of the magnetic pieces. I think that for what this toy provides the price is worth it!I like the "modular" aspect of having extra sets available to add. Oh, the set is also fun for adults to goof around with.

This toy is fantastic. It deserves to be up there with legos, lincoin logs, tinkery toys, etc... as must have building toys. Its an incredible toy and if it cost 25% as much I'd say buy it without a second thought. As for the 86 piece set: 2) Each box is all one color and I didn't know that when looking at the picture on the box. Turns out this is an advantage since it makes the building less confusing.

My 6 year old loves building pretty much anything with the geomags! He comes up with the craziest designs. He made a really cool necklace for his sister to wear. Only problem is keeping track of all the pieces. We have the glow in the dark and the cobalt blue pieces. The glow ones seem to loose themselves in our carpet, and the balls are easily hidden. Not for small children as the parts are too small.

Fun, but you get very little for the money,

First, let me say this toy IS alot of fun. It gets high marks in the fun department. My son got it for his 5th Birthday and is really enjoying it. In my opinion it is a very poor value. we bought the 86 pc. set plus and additional 20 pc. set on sale and it was still very expensive. The photos on the cover are a magnified view of the toy, the actual toy is MUCH smaller. Also the cover shows many different colors but you only get one color with each set. You have to buy multiple sets to get different colors. OUCH! Also you don't get any carring case for all these small pieces, just a styrofoam box that doesn't stay closed. I am sure most of the pieces will be lost within six months. Even though it's fun I would just not recommend this toy to anyone.

I bought one set of 86, and after my daughter and I played with them for half an hour we decided we needed more. Now after the second box of 86 we have found we need more because the "sculptures" (as my daughter calls them) keep getting bigger and better. If it wasnt for cost I would probably get two more sets of 86 right now. Be smart get the 130 set from the start!!!

I'm a single dad and a homeschooler of two children. My daughter is eight and my son is four. They've spent hours playing together with this set quietly. The magnets are good quality and very strong for their size. The children have created incredible moving forms with them and I just think they're a great buy.

I love these things! They are relaxing, imaginative, flat out fun! My son was studying magnets in school and this was perfect! I have to wait for him to go to bed so I can play with them. We scramble for the pieces. Don't let the price hold you back. The magnetic force is VERY strong and they are well worth the money. One tip: Don't buy anything smaller than the 86 piece. Enjoy!
