Tasty treats for ferrets, but please take care,
By
This review is from: 8in1 Yogies for Ferrets - Banana/Raisin Flavor, 3-1/2-Ounce (Grocery)
Almost everyone who gives these treats to their ferrets will find that they really like them! And of course they do - it's filled with sugar and all sorts of ingredients that are not good for ferrets. Ferrets are obligate carnivores, meaning they have a difficult time digesting fruit, veggie, and dairy matter. Additionally, the are lactose intolerant, so these yogies really are not good for ferrets at all. Please do your research before feeding these to your ferrets - there are healthier, not to mention safer, treats out there that your ferret will love just as much as these!

I use yogies as a training aid, to learn the litter box, to learn to come when called, and using yogies has worked, they LOVE them.

ALL my ferrets have loved these for years. Just shake the container and they all coming running. It serves as a treat or a quick way to round up the ferrets when it's time to put them back in their cage. They smell just like real baking chips! I also recommend the Banana-raisin flavor. The peanut flavor tends to slightly melt; more so than the banana-raison flavor.

People need to research before buying ferret treats. These contain a ton of sugar and yogurt, two things that ferrets cannot digest. They are carnivores and eat meat! Excessive consumption of sugar can lead to insulinoma- not worth the risk in my opinion.

I know this product is geared towards ferrets, but my rats love them too! I have been giving them the fruit flavored one from the store for years, but recently stopped shopping there when I became aware of how badly they were treating their rats. So came on here and found so many new flavors! My girls just hear the container and they start climbing the walls, literally! When they are done, they lick their face and paws to get any missed crumbs. They love them! Not just for ferrets anymore, ratties love them!!

I just got the product today and decided to give one to my ferret. BabyNelly absolutely loved the taste of the peanut butter Yogies -- BUT -- when I gave her 2 in a row (because the package CLAIMS ferrets can have up to 5 per day), she reacted terribly to it!! She started biting me (which she has never done) and biting her hands and feet FOR ALMOST TWO HOURS STRAIGHT!! I thought I was going to have to take her to the vet. Finally the sugar wore off and she fell asleep - phew- that was so scary!! THE INSTRUCTIONS SHOULD SAY TO GIVE FERRETS ONLY ONE PER DAY!! PLEASE BE CAREFUL!! This product has a lot of sugar in it (it's the first ingredient listed!) and ferrets do not react well to that much sugar if more than one a day is given.

My late ferret, Patches O' Houlihan, absolutely devoured these yogurt bites. She'd always take a few to her treat spot and enjoy them so much.

I rated these 4 stars because my ferrets didn't really get a chance to enjoy them that much. Buddy (the ferret) seemed to like them more than Teddy (our other ferret). My son ate the rest....he thought that they were peanut butter chips (they look like it)and ate the rest of the container which is the same size as a yogurt container. He says they taste good so if your ferret doesn't like them...you can eat them! They are overpriced and probably a dap of peanut butter would do the same thing....

My 2 kids are VERY finicky about their snacks. This is 1 of 2 treats they will eat. (The other is also from this manufacturer) If you're looking for a treat your little furries will love...this is it!
