5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing
First off i want to say that I think it's so funny how Kimberly Locke can come in third and record a better more succesful debut single then 1st place but whatever. Kim has a power house voice and shes so pretty im so glad that one of the more talented people from 2nd season got a deal. 8TH WORLD WONDER is a great song to listen to, sing with, and dance to with that 8TH...

1.0 out of 5 stars LACKLUSTER SALES PROVE CD IS NOT GOOD
I read an article in the paper today about Kim Locke and the lackluster sales her CD is generating. I like Kim but I bought the CD and was very, very disappointed. The songs are banal and trite and the producers just don't know what to do with Kim's voice. Its such a shame that television trash like "American Idol" is doing such things to impressionable young...

5.0 out of 5 stars Kimberley Locke - The '8th World Wonder'!, March 22, 2004

First of all, the single is incredible! It makes you hungry for the album! '8TH World Wonder' is without a doubt a great song, that truly shows that Kim's style is very diverse! She can sing anything! The song is so infectious that when you hear it for the first time, you have to listen to it about a zillion times more! As for the new studio version of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' (which is on the B-side of the CD), when you hear the song, it literally makes you cry! It sounds so beautiful. It's nothing like the version you may have heard Kim sing on American Idol. Instead, it's so soulful and once again, it is proven that Kim can sing anything. The song showcases Kim's powerful vocal ability and she sings it with such conviction that as you listen to the words, you would be inspired and uplifted. If you are feeling down and depressed and you are not sure whether or not your dreams will ever come true, when you hear this song, you will automatically be encouraged. The song touches your heart and soul deep within. Both songs combined make an incredible CD single that's definitely worth buying!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected Victory non "Top Two" for Idol Finalist, April 2, 2004

After hearing Kimberly Locke perform her new hit "8th World Wonder" on American Idol, it didn't leave my head. I went to the nearest music store as soon as I could and picked up the last copy. It has not left my car's CD player since.

Kimberly Locke displays her beautiful range, giving reason to why she is the first non Top-Two Idol contestant to make "headlines" in music.

I never listen to the radio, and I was surprised to hear Kim when I happened to turn the radio on.

I reccomend you go out and buy her Album, if 8th World Wonder is foreshadowing her work in progess, then good things could be in the future for Miss Locke.

5.0 out of 5 stars Somewhere Over the Rainbow is spellbinding, March 27, 2004

As my favorite from the second season of American Idol, Kimberley Locke has an amazing range and sincerity in her voice. And those qualitites are displayed in the B-side of her debut single "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". The strong jazz arrangement of the classic for the optimal opportunity to experience Locke's soaring diva-esque sound. Her voice is a distinct instrument that separates her from the other pop sounds on today's scene. Buy the single for "Rainbow", and be uplifted by her spunkiness on "8th World Wonder". A must-have for true music lovers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Debut, March 17, 2004

I love this girl's voice. She is so smooth and sooo silky. Her version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" is a real bluesy groove, and somewhat exotic, which is welcome from the usual over the top arrangements by other artists. Yes, I liked Judy Garland's version, but Kimberley infuses it with her own sexy and amazing vocal range and her contemporary styling of this song is just so FRESH which makes it very powerful. It is beautifully sung. I REALLY like the title cut "8th World Wonder" where she displays some unique vocal styling and you can understand the words she sings. Her CD "One Love" will bring a lot more of this terrific singer to the airwaves.

Ya Know, when Kimberly Locke was on American Idol, I wasn't a fan at all!! I guess I never heard her sing a song and make it her own. I was amazed to hear 8WW and find out that she sang it!! Bravo my dear, you are very talented, and made the song your own...Excellent, can't wait until the album comes out!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars My Idol..., March 9, 2004

One part of me believes that American Idol is just a giant, glorified karaoke contest. Another part of me, however, knows very well that some great talent has been discovered because of this mega-hit show. Kim Locke is one of the great discoveries. Why BMG didn't sign her is something I'll never figure out! Luckily, Mike Curb saw what an amazing talent Kim is! Season 2 of American Idol will always be remembered as the "Clay & Ruben Show" (and they are both talented, indeed), but Kim was the reason I tuned in every week. "8th World Wonder" is a great pop song with a small dose of rock. Kim's vocals, of course, are outstanding as always. The song itself, urguably, is more adult contemporary in nature than anything else, but it's still catchy enough that it should be a mainstream pop hit. And, of course, Kim's divine rendition of 'Over the Rainbow,' a song that has been sung by so many different artists over the last 60+ years that it's normally a risk for most modern musicians. It's about as desirable as 'Unchained Melody.' Kim's vocal strength, however, gives 'Over the Rainbow' a much needed face lift. Her passion is so refreshing, and like Randy Jackson said when Kim performed this song on American Idol "It's like a master class in singing." Let's just say the risk more than paid off. I can't wait for Kim's album 'One Love' to be released on May 4th, and the remixed cd of '8th World Wonder' to be released on March 23rd! I love you Kim!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Single!, March 6, 2005
This review is from: 8th World Wonder (Audio CD)
When I first heard "8th World Wonder" on the radio, I immediately called my radio station to find out who that song was by...Surprisingly, It was by none other than American Idol finalist Kimberley Locke. I was pleasantly surprised by her versatility on this single. The B-Side, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", is amazing. A Must-Buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm Over the Rainbow for Kim Locke, March 20, 2004

2 hits and no misses. This is a homerun, all the way. Her R&B rendition of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" is stunning. This girl can sing. I can't stop listening to this song. It's just that good. It's one of the most ORIGINAL arrangements that you'll ever hear. I hope she gets the opportunity to sing this live one day because it will blow people away. I think it's brilliant.

On 8th World Wonder, Kim DOESN'T sound like Michelle Branch. That's just ridiculous. Kim sounds like Kim. This song is a winner. I loved this song when I first heard a small bit of it, so I was glad to finally get my hands on the entire song.

There are a lot of doubters out there, but I think Kim is going to surprise a lot of people. This is an excellent start to a long career.

5.0 out of 5 stars K-Lo's first single is awesome, March 16, 2004

I love Kim Locke's CD single. For those of us who followed her on AI, yes it's a different sound and style from what we might expect, but it's perfect for exposing Kim to a large pop audience and getting her career off to a great start. The title song is catchy and stays in your head, and Over The Rainbow is beautiful. Kim is proving she can sing many different styles. I look forward to the album and the variety it will provide to showcase her awesome vocal abilities. Kim is a singer with the potential for great staying power.
