Eros finally gets my attention.,
By
This review is from: 9 (Italian) (Audio CD)
I have 4 Ero albums.I don't listen to them. I never really like them at all, even though I have tried and tried to get into his music. A friend of mine, back from Europe, brought me this album and upon glancing at it, I said to myself "Holy crap, not this guy" Smiling sweetly, I thanked him and asked him "where's the rest of my presents ya cheap bugger". After a while I did get to listen to it and now its constantly on my cd player. Its so good. Its so good. (worth repeating!!) Maybe its the production, but his voice, unique that it is, is very clear and strong. The musicians are superb, true craftsmen/women. And together they have made a superb album. I've listen to it over and over and over. Now I'm brave enough to go back and revisit his other albums I have. But not yet, I'm not through with this one. Strongly recommended!!

for people new to Eros, maybe you should try one of his compilations first like "Eros in concert", "Eros" or "Eros live". they will give you a better idea of what this guy is all about. this new cd ("nove") is his darkest work so far and even thought he always sings from the heart and not from the i-guess-this-is-what's-selling-so-i'll-go-with-this (Jewel style), his style is much more romantic usually than what you'll find here.having said that, if you're not going to buy a sissy greatest hits cd, if you want to go all the way, then i'll tell you that Eros discography has been through stages like his live and ours. first, <the rebel with a cause years> ("agitated hearts", "new heroes" and "music is" belong to this category-i know, translations [stink]). then the <i'm just trying to find myself years> with "in certain moments" and "in every sense" (a really cool cd, every song has the phrase "in ogni senso" worked into it-it sounds nuts but it works). to be followed by <I'm a serious musician who sings what i want to sing not what the establishment tells me to> with "all stories", "where there's music" and "freestyle". and then, well, then there's "nine" i listened to this cd and thought: what hapened to him? not that it is bad, it's that it is SAD! so i checked for info on the net and sure enough... in the time between his previous work (the beautiful "stilelibero") and "nove" the guy lost his mom, had a divorce and barely sees his daughter anymore. no wonder... i'd describe "nove" with 2 words: tough love. yes, there's the hymn of all of the overworked and stressed out: "un attimo di pace", one of the best in the cd. you put this on your car cd changer and you are off to another world. there's also the requisite sad song for his "i only see her on sunday" daughter: "canzone per lei" and the symbolic "l'uomo che guardava le nuvole". but love is tough, man... you too will remember the one that got away with "ti vorrei rivivere"; the relationship that didn't work out with "solo ieri" and "falsa partenza"; you can't promise somebody forever with "un'ancora nel vento" and "non ti prometo niente" and sometimes, you love this person but really, you have a lot of things to do ("un'emozione per sempre"). to put it simply, buy it, live it, love it and remember the pain

I have been waiting for a new album by Eros for a long time, and it was worth the wait. The songs are filled with "nostalgia" from "Piccola Pietra" to "Canzone Per Lei" and "Non Ti Prometto Niente" (my favorites) this album is a must for all Eros and italian music fans!. I am now waiting for you Eros to come and tour the USA?!. Sei bravissimo, complimenti, e un album stupende..bacioni!

This is the first Ramazzotti CD I've purchased, and it's wonderful. The music is lush and the songs are of heartbreak and longing, which you can pick up even if you don't speak Italian. Ramazzotti's voice reminds me a bit of Jose Feliciano, only he has more power and better range. The songs are what Enrique Iglesias would sound like if he could really write and sing. The music makes you want to wander the streets of some European city or island late at night and ponder the meaning of love, although you could also dance to alot of them. This CD is also great for parties, where you want your guests to groove to the music but not be overwhelmed by it. My only complaint is that the album is a bit one-sided in favor of ballads and it would be nice to have Ramazzotti mix it up a little. But if you are into very European yet modern sounding love songs, you will fall in love with this album.

A Return to Form,

I think Eros is the most consistently talented popstar since ABBA were at their peak. Saying that, I must confess that his previous CD Stile Libero was a disastrous failure with its overblown pretensions of Self Important-Megastardom. The duet with Cher ? C'mon.Nove is a sad work. It compares in mood to Springsteen's Tunnel of Love. Nevertheless the songs are beautiful in their simplicity and are extremely well executed. Not at the same level as Dove C'e Musica or In Ogni Senso, but still excellent

Excellent but Eros is Italian..not Latino,
This review is from: 9 (Italian) (Audio CD)
Eros as usual is excellent. Have followed him since he first appeared on the Italian circuit. Please note: your review that the album is "in Italian from this Latin artist" is incorrect. Eros is Italian first and we take Great Pride in that-he has crossed over and become a star in the Latin arena but he's pure Italian!

The Ultimate Eros,

When I first heard this latest Ramazzotti CD, I felt that it didn't quite live up to its very wonderful predecessor, "Stilelibero." However, upon sustained listening I've comletely changed my mind and decided that "9" is far and away the stronger work. There's no doubt here that Ramazzotti is a seasoned artist at the peak of his form, and this work shows off his talents fully -- thoughtful lyrics, wonderful melodies that will play endlessly in the corners of your mind, and a distinctive voice full of intimacy, warmth and passion. Coming on the heels of the death of his mother and divorce from his wife, it also radiates a decided note of sadness -- but there is joy here too and in the end one has the sense of a life fully lived. The CD starts out with a stunning uptempo rant for a "moment of peace" (Un Attimo di Pace), flavored with a driving percussive beat and Spanish guitar inflections. The mood quickly changes with the second track, "Solo Ieri", a melancholy ballad whose direct simplicity is beautifully orchestrated so as to enhance the feeling without pushing it into easy sentimentality. The pace picks up again with "Un Emozione per Sempre," a classic Eros track that will never fail to make your spirits soar and set your feet tapping. And so it goes with the rest of the album, each song a little gem, as gorgeous as the next, punctuated by little surprises like "Mamarà" and "Falsa Partenza." Don't worry if you don't understand Italian--Eros is an international artist wose greatness is immediately apparent, no matter what your language background. You will come to love this collection.

It has been a while since we heard from Eros, and the saying is true "good things come to those who wait"...I absolutely love this CD, from his single "Un Emozione Per Sempre," to "Mamara" a song for his mother it is packed with new, edgy, yet very "classic" Eros music. It goes to show, that no matter how old he is, or how long he has been around, he is still one of the great italian pop musicians in exsistence...We love you Eros and I can't wait to see you back in New York!...Ciao Ciao!

I am studying Italian, so I thought I would look for a couple of CDs by a currently popular Italian artist. Something to listen and maybe help improve my ability to speak and understand. I just hoped to find something I would not mind listening to.
This CD was beyond my hopes! I listen to it ALOT. It is so good, I came back and picked up 4 more CDs by Eros. I especially like Attimo di Pace and Ti Vorrei Rivivere, but the rest are also very good. Yeah, he has a bit of that nasal tonal quality, but I guess I kinda like it. Great stuff!

I'm an italian american and am a musician...i've been listening to eros ever since he came out and he really comes out with amazing albums...i wouldn't say this is his best work, but its damn close...too bad that america doesn't really know about him, because he is some artist...i personally think he is Italy's # 1 artist...his melodies, arrangements, voice and that bluesy eros feel is a pleasure to listen to even if you don't understand Italian...i had a chance to meet him at a show in the states, and he was very cool...He makes me feel proud to be Italian...Bocelli is also a great artist but eros will take him overall...if there was an artist that i could play with, eros would definitely be one of them...
