Joshua is a tenacious young boy who, like a lucky feline, appears to live a charmed life by defying death on several occasions. His challenges began while he was still in his birth mother's womb. This is a story of survival, and the interracial adoption of an older, special needs child into a home with two loving and committed mothers.
Jan Crossen's interest in the welfare of children began years ago. As a high school teacher and coach, Jan was a mentor to many of her students and players. She is grateful for her continued relationships with many of these former students.
A sponsor of children living in developing countries, Jan contributed to the education, health, and well-being of youngsters in China and Africa. Serving as a court appointed surrogate parent for two siblings in the Arizona foster care system, Jan was delighted when her young charges met their forever mom and moved into their adoptive home.
Jan has always dreamed of creating her family through adoption. Her vision became reality in 1999 when she adopted her son, Joshua. The three books in the 9 LIVES Trilogy were inspired by their lives together.
A country girl by heart, Jan and her family live on a small farm, on a rural island near Seattle, Washington.
