More like 50, and not so world-class,

I was excited about this book, thinking i was getting a different great activity from 90 different experts. I was disappointed.
First, there are many activities in here that are ALMOST duplicates of each other. Penny Toss--select a penny and tell something from your life that corresponds to the year on the penny, then pass that penny to someone else. Penny for your Thoughts--each participant selects a penny and share a story from your life that happened in the year on the penny. People Hunt and Bingo are just 2 versions of the same game (finding poeple with specific characteristics). Secondly, "world-class?" Really? Oh You Animal--have participants introduce themselves as an animal. Quick Content Quiz--prior to session, compose 12 multiple choice quiz questions; have participants in teams try to answer the questions. The Truth Be Known--participants "write 4 facts about himself or herself, one of which is a lie" (uh, if it's a lie, it's not really a fact, is it?!); have participants guess which is the lie. There are way too many old, over-used, UNoriginal activities here. I will admit, there are 2 activities i've not heard of, and they seem do-able, but certainly not worth the $40 price tag on this thick book (thick because some of the writers take forever to make a point...seriously, the Oh You Animal activity takes 3 pages--3 pages to tell you how to have people introduce themselves as an animal). Try Quick Team-building Activities for Busy Managers (or it's sequel), or The Big Book of Business Games instead of this over priced volume.

I just received this book, and I am so excited about all the new activities and ideas for my consulting practice. I pride myself on being pretty quick with developing a new game, and this book will reside on top of my desk where I can use it every day to do that. Page up and order it - it is a jewel. We used it for a client within minutes of it coming through the front door. Lecture as a last resort!
