The Only Monitor for families with more than one child,
By A Customer
This review is from: 900 MHz Home Connection Monitor (Baby Product)
I looked everywhere for a monitor that could be used for two small children in two diffrent bedrooms (my children's ages are: 15 months old and newborn) and came up empty handed. I even tried purchasing two seperate monitors but that did not work, it only created alot of static. I even went as far as calling a couple of monitor manufactors and was told that the only way that I could have a baby monitor in each of my children's bedrooms would be to have an alarm company hotwire a monitor into an existing alarm system (that would cost approximately $500-$700). Then I discovered this monitor at Babies R Us. It was exactly what we needed. (It is so clear I can hear my son breathing.) For a growing family or a family with up to three small children - this is the only monitor for you!! I love it!!! I realize that this monitor is a bit pricey but what is piece of mind worth to you??? An added extra is not having to replace batteries - this monitor comes with rechargable batteries. I give this product the highest rating possible.

I have no problems with this monitor. I am expecting my second child and we set it up a few weeks ago just to test it out and make sure it all works. We have been using one in my son's old room, one in the new room that we just set up, and one in our room for when he takes naps in there instead of his room. It works great in all three rooms, all three monitors work great. Both receivers works great, the volume isn't a problem at all. The only 2 downsides are, One, there is static from time to time but nothing more than I've seen in any other monitor, watch where you put it, if it's near your cell phone, cordless phone, wireless connection to your computer, etc, that could have interference. And, two, the light from the letters of each monitor on the recievers are very bright. I like my bedroom to be pitch black (I have to turn my clock upside down at night because the lights are too bright) and they can be almost like a nightlight, they are so bright. If I turn it the right way, it's not too bad and I can still hear everything and fall asleep. So, that's why I still gave it a 5.

Wonderful monitor system!,
By Heather (California) - See all my reviews

After the birth of my 3 month old son, we were going crazy with two seperate monitors. When the 2.5 yr old went to bed, I had to remember to turn on his monitor and turn off the baby's. When the baby went to sleep, I had to either hold him or sit right next to his room, because if I turned his monitor on, neither worked at all. Then I found this monitor system. It is wonderful!I see some complaints about static, but we have not had any problems at all. We only have one cordless phone, and it is not on the 900mHz frequency, that might help. But in our home, it is crystal clear wherever we are in the house. We may have a moment or two of static occasionally, but it immediately clears up. The only problem I have is that we only need 2 monitors, but I have to plug in the third unit so that I can scan the other two. But a minor issue in the whole scheme of things. Overall, I am thrilled with this monitor system.

Great concept.... WORST monitor I've ever seen,

Okay, so I did not read the reviews until after we registered for this monitor and I figured if some people gave it good reviews than it couldn't be all that bad. Boy was I wrong. I'm actually still trying to figure out how ANYONE could rely on this to monitor their kids - but I'm going on the assumption that it's their first monitor.
We have twins - 2.5 and a new baby on the way. We just moved into a new home and we didn't get the built in monitor like we had in our old home because it was $1400 and we just didn't think we could justify that. Anyhow, the twins used a lights and sounds monitor for the past two years when we were traveling, etc. and it worked well. However since they still need to be monitored and the new baby needs one too we looked for a multi room system to purchase. This was the one we saw and you figure for the price it will work, right? Well, we hooked it up on Wednesday and used it for a few nights (just for the twins as the baby is not here yet:-)). I knew right away the sound quality was low and when we tested it, we just couldn't hear the little noises they make as well as we used to... but we liked some of the other features so we gave it another night. Night two at 2:30am loud static came through and scared us both out of bed and that was followed by the mysterious clicking sound for a few moments. Once we realized everything was okay, I told my husband I was going to look at other monitors in the morning. So we used it for two more nights and then yesterday we went back to Toys R Us and bought the Sony 27 channel monitor that I read about online. Some people said you could use multiple units together. So we did the at home test - tried this 900 MHz Home Connection once again and did the talk test and then unplugged it and tried the new Sony in the same room, late at night while the kids were sleeping. I was in the room whispering and my husband was across the house cracking up laughing at the difference between the two. He made such a big deal about how different the sound quality was that we switched them again so I could hear the difference and let me tell you there is NO COMPARISON!!! We could not BELIEVE the sound difference. You can hear a burp or a whimper or any little sound with the Sony and on this Home Connection you have to almost talk to hear anything. IT IS A HORRIBLE MONITOR!!! I am so glad I went with my instinct to try another one because we cannot get over the difference in sound. If you buy TWO Sony 27 Channel monitors it's $100 - VS $129 for this piece of junk. I wouldn't even monitor my dogs with this one. Tomorrow it is going back to TRU. Please do your research and if you buy two and compare them you too will be AMAZED at the sound quality from just about any other monitor than this one. And I know I've always wanted to hear every little noise my little ones made when I wasn't in the room just to make sure they were always safe. Truely it's a great concept and if it worked as well as the crazy (and costly) packaging they put it in, it would be worth twice the price. Last night we had the volume up too high on our new Sony and my daughter woke up crying around 12:30 and we both jumped out of bed. We've since adjusted the volume perfectly but once again we were laying in bed laughing at just how much of a huge difference there really is. And that's using the Voice Activated feature on the Sony. You can hear EVERYTHING with it and this Home Connection did not pick up or amplify ANY sounds they made. I would not recommend this monitor to ANYONE. Hope my feedback helps in some way. Thanks!!

this is a savior for daycare,

I purchased this monitor because I am a daycare provider and have 5 children in my care 2 and under. I needed something I could use in multiple rooms for naptime and it has been awesome.
I had no problem with the clarity or reception at all and we have alot of electronics. After reading the reviews I was worried about the reception but I figured I'd give it a try and I am so glad I did! It is much better than the monitors Ive had in the past and I have a monitor on every floor of my home. I HIGHLY recommend this.

Excellent product!,

This monitor is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I did read the previous reviews before buying, and decided that despite those that complained of static that it was worth a try. I'm so glad I did! I haven't found any issues with static, so I would say that if you run into that, check the environment - there's probably something interfering. The monitor has fantastic features, is very clear, and the transmitter units are inconspicuous in the childrens rooms. The receiver units are reasonably sized, and without the bulky antennae some other monitors have. I highly recommend this monitor!!

Great Monitor,

When I became pregnant with my 2nd child I started looking for a monitor to use in more than one room, but could not locate one. I was just about to submit to the idea that I had to have two separate monitor systems when I happened to stumble on this one at Babies R Us. It works great!! You can put a transmitter in 3 separate rooms and the receiver will continually scan each room for 5 seconds. The 2 adult receivers that come with it have rechargable batteries and even work as walkie talkies. The reception is also great with no static.

LOVE THIS MONITOR!!!,

We just had our third child and this monitor is a godsend. With two kids I was struggling with two sets of monitors/bases etc. This solves that problem!! My main comments:
* The kids' room bases are not huge- the smallest and most attractive, least "monitor-like" looking I have seen * We have had NO trouble with "click-clicking"- I think at times all monitors pick up something in the area but it never lasted. All we hear on a regular basis are the kids. Much less interference than any other monitor we have had. * Bright lights- we did laugh the first night we used the monitor as the scanning lights up your room like a disco. My solution is to lie the monitor down on the front side- I still hear everything fine and then don't get bothered by the lights. * Intercom feature- I was almost going to buy an actual intercom until I found this. Nice to have a way to talk from base to base. Would be GREAT if we could pick a kids' channel and still talk back and forth too, but... someday... We don't use this feature a ton but it does work well when we have. I have NEVER written another review for a product but wanted to because this really has made having 3 kids much easier. Fewer cords...units...good operation... one of my favorite kid buys!

If you have more than one child or if you just have a lot of rooms that you want to listen to and don't want to move monitors around. IE...kid's room, play room, TV room. Then this monitor is for you. We just had our third baby...and what a godsend! Before this, we had two average units, lots of plugs, wires, batteries...a mess. Who is crying, what room is that?? ETC!!! Now, things are less complicated. And we no longer pick up our neighbor nor have all that static! You can listen to one room, or scan three rooms at a time for 5 seconds each. The parent unit is rechargable...charges while plugged in--which is nice. Lasts for awhile before needing to be recharged.

The best Monitor there is!,

I have a 14 month old and a 1 month old. I read every single review about this monitor, and really did not know what to do because of all the mixed reviews. I had tried two seperate monitors before and could not even hear my oldest son because of all the static. Finally the day before I was induced I decided to spend the money and try this out.
I LOVE IT! I have had no problems with it. There is no interference from the satalite, when I hang up the cordless phone it makes a short static sound, but it only lasts about 2 seconds, if that. The only other time there is a problem with static is if the battery goes dead in the parent unit. That too is an easy fix. We have both of our parent units plugged in all night in our room, then during the day we bring them out to use in the rest of the house. I only leave them on when we are using them, and the batteries hardly ever go dead. Some people complained that it is too quiet, we don't have that problem. The lights on the parent unit are a little too bright, but it is easy to cope with considering the peace of mind this monitor provides. All in all, I am glad we spent the money on this monitor, and I recommend it to any one who needs to monitor more than one room at once. It is well worth the money and there are no others like it. |
