I recently purchased this to do a bamboo floor and trim in our new addition. Went with the 909 MS812PUL, over similar miter saws around the same price, because of the laser and compound miter.

When I initially unboxed I immediately noticed how there was significant side-to-side wiggle in the saw near the joint of the compound angle. This is a major problem since the point of this is to be able to make accurate cuts. No amount of tightening and tweaking could stop this.

I figured I would make due with the inaccuracy since I had a whole weekend planned and didn't want to lose any time. I made my first strait cut through a 2x4 and inspected the less than ideal cut when I realized the machine had an odd odor. Figuring this was just the new equipment smell you get sometimes I prepared to make my second cut and the SAW DID NOT TURN ON.

Needless to say I returned the product as defective. Even assuming this was a fluke manufacturing anomaly the initial experience should be enough to convince potential buyers to stay clear.

The 8.5 inch compound saw is a great addition to the tools for use in re doing projects inside the house. Great and easy to use for baseboards and crown molding etc. Laser makes it fool proof and the lock makes it safe to store. Light weight to take to the room for working. Love it.
