4.0 out of 5 stars
Overall, great., October 18, 2010
This review is from: '90s Rock: Bass Play-Along Volume 4 (Paperback)
The only reason I am giving this product 4 stars instead of 5 is because some of the songs in this book I do not like. If you browse through the MANY play along titles for various instruments, you will find that most books have a rather odd assortment of songs - some you will like and some you might not have heard of or don't want. After reading the song lists from the various books, I've often had the reaction. "Why the @#$* is that song included? "
Mainly, I bought this particular book/cd-rom set for the tunes "Hard to Handle," and "Jeremy." In my opinion, if you find even one song per book that you really want to learn, then it is a book worth buying.
Another bass play along title I recommend, and the one I plan on buying next, is "Easy Songs," - tunes by U2, the Police, Nirvana, and several others. A very good collection with lots of variety.
The play along cd-rom is fantastic to use! You can slow the track down to half-speed without it changing pitch. This REALLY helps! I have some difficulty learning with tab, and using a music track with a variable tempo makes a huge difference.
