Obviously the price will go down and it's 22 episodes of the most recent show as well as a fairly well-received season at that, but it feels so crass knowing the die-hard completists will fork over twice what season 1 now goes for. I'm not convinced that buying this set of what is popularly considered the worst spin-off will convince CBS to give DS9 the TNG remastering treatment.
If you've paid attention to the other Blu-Ray releases you know they start out somewhere around MSRP and work their way down in price closer to release date. I ordered my copy of Season 3 on Blu-Ray for $57.99, and if it follows other TNG/ENT Blu-Rays it should top out somewhere around $70.00 once the initial sale is over. Also, if you do happen to pre-order when the price is very high and at or near MSRP, Amazon will refund you to the release date sale price.
Looks like I'm going to Best Buy after work to buy this for $59.99. Can't believe amazon hasn't lowered their price. What happened to this company? You guys used to be the best price wise, but now days I'm constantly finding better deals elsewhere.
This is at least the third time in the last month Amazon has failed to match WM or BB on a new "major" Blu-ray release by the end of release day. On those, they eventually matched later in the week. If you used their "pre-order low price guarantee" the only way to get the discount was to call customer service and complain!
As a follow-up, Amazon never did price match BB on this title!
I can WAIT a LONG time for this title to drop w/ Amazon. The price point for this least popular Trek series is insane. They did ZERO restoration, and season 4 was already filmed in HD! Other than the watch-once, very low budget featurettes, it's not a labor intensive offering as far as what CBS had to accomplish w/ TOS/TNG. If I have a desire to re-watch season 4, I'll simply pull out my dvd boxed set and pop in in my BD player.
WTF???? Just a couple weeks ago this title was in the mid-$50.00's and now it's 71.00!!!!!????????? 4 less episodes, crap featurettes, no restoration to HD format expenses by studio! What warrants this list price?????? Seriously???????????????????? Best Buy is now $80.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
