5.0 out of 5 stars Best Beauty Book Ever Written!
At last the beauty book I've been searching for. Ms. Irons has covered just about every beauty problem there is at every age. It's all here in one book including diet, skincare, beauty supplements, foods to eat, clothing care, cellulite, remedies for age spots, spider veins, frizzy hair, and lots of money saving insider secrets. 5.0 out of 5 stars Best Beauty Book Ever Written!, November 29, 1999
This review is from: 911 Beauty Secrets: An Emergency Guide to Looking Great at Every Age, Size and Budget (Paperback)
I liked the way the book was structured. It's easy to read..just the tips without a ton of self-serving stories about the author's life or clients (although there are a lot of model's secrets). My favorite chapters are the emergency diets, attitude & style, cosmetic quick fixes and secret remedies. I plan to use this book as a constant reminder that I don't have to spend a fortune to look beautiful. My friends and I are planning a millenium party and are looking to trying the many spa secrets on each other.

I have never purchased a book that was as interesting as this one is. I use it almost every day, from cold sores to pimples. I have not yet found a remidy that does not work. I recommend this book to both men and women of all ages. I get phone calls from all my friend to ask what do I do for this and what to I do for that. It is absoluty the best beauty book on the market. Thanks Amason and thanks to the View for having the woman on. Linda Deakins Toronto, Canada

5.0 out of 5 stars Valuable Information on Every Aspect of Beauty, February 2, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: 911 Beauty Secrets: An Emergency Guide to Looking Great at Every Age, Size and Budget (Paperback)
Here it is, finally in one place. Everything you ever wanted to know about hair, makeup, fashion, celebrities, all in this one great book. From the latest beauty supplements to 2 day emergency diets that the stars use, 911 Beauty Secrets covers it. Many of the beauty solutions can be made at home or bought inexpensively from the grocery or drugstore. Diane Irons simplifies beauty so that we ALL can get there. If you're sick and tired of those "coffee table" beauty books and need some practical solutions, at last it's here. I highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Camouflaging info worth price of the book, August 1, 2000
By
This review is from: 911 Beauty Secrets: An Emergency Guide to Looking Great at Every Age, Size and Budget (Paperback)
Diane Irons sticks pretty close to standardly accepted beauty practices in this book, but it is definitely nice to have all the tips collected together in one book. My personal favorite info was in the section about camouflaging -- Diane gives us abundant tips on instantly "losing" weight by using makeup, hair, and dressing tricks.

This book is full of secrets on every beauty topic including makeup, skin, hair, clothing, exercise, attitude, and others. The book is formatted in an easy-to-read manner, and includes celebrity tips as well as Diane's own practices. As of August 2000, it seems very up-to-date as far as fashion is concerned.

For anyone who is interested in having all the wisdom of several years worth of fashion magazines, this book is the one.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Never Thought of That!, February 22, 2000

This review is from: 911 Beauty Secrets: An Emergency Guide to Looking Great at Every Age, Size and Budget (Paperback)
Diane has so many great tips I'd never thought of...but they made complete sense. The little things like keeping down "the bloat" by staying away from chewing gum and using straws to tips such as how to kick start a diet are gems. Also, speaking as a woman with thin hair her suggestion for putting gelatin in shampoo to give hair more fullness is a lifesaver.

Keep it coming Di!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great find!, November 20, 2000
This review is from: 911 Beauty Secrets: An Emergency Guide to Looking Great at Every Age, Size and Budget (Paperback)
Just got finished reading this little gem. And I have to say I learned so many new tips! Diane makes us think for ourselves, look like ourselves, while making beauty and diet easy to understand. I love the celebrity tips! I'm giving this book to all my co-workers as well as my sister who has just had a baby. Stretch marks, bloating, under eye circles, beauty foods, making your own spa treatments....I've never seen so much in one book. I've seen this author on TV and her "down to earth" while being glamorous approach comes through in every page. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works best when you're REALLY determined, July 4, 2000
This review is from: 911 Beauty Secrets: An Emergency Guide to Looking Great at Every Age, Size and Budget (Paperback)
Diane Irons book is fun to read and sure enough full of great suggestions! Works best for the a-little-mad-about-their-looks-people, I would say. Her soothing tone about "don't boykott yourself by trying to become what you'll never be" is true to a limit: she seems to be ironhard determined. Most of her diet and food talk shows, that here is one soft talking person who acts like Arnold Schwarzenegger on her field: beauty. It's also a special beauty. Not the all-natural flat-soled but the high refined, high heeled beauty. I love it and with modest changes (no, I won't wear the highest heels I can without killing myself, not always, that is) I got so much out of this book. My husband observed the first day, when he came home: "You look different..sparkling somehow.." Hey! That compliment alone is worth a fortune!

On page 40, Diane says to "Slough off dead skin cells with a solution made of sea salt and lemon," but she doesn't offer the proportions for each ingredient. This kind of problem is present throughout the book. It's great to read some of the techniques she offers, but it doesn't do a lot of good when she doesn't explain everything we need to know about their application. It would have been more helpful if the author had included an appendix of "recipes" for the solutions she offers.

911 Beauty Secrets is amazing! With everything from beauty to diet and fashion this book will be a perinneal on my nightstand. Diane's tips really are great for when you need a quick fix but also are just the "thing" when you're looking for inexpensive and unconventional ideas for staying young looking.

This is ideal for women of all ages.

2.0 out of 5 stars Some of her advice is actually UNSAFE, January 21, 2000
This review is from: 911 Beauty Secrets: An Emergency Guide to Looking Great at Every Age, Size and Budget (Paperback)
I did find a couple good tidbits, but most of her advice was cliched and simplistic. Some of it was downright silly... "never chew gum, never drink from a straw". Come on now, who really is going to abide by this? She also advocates temporary anorexia for those who want to "crash diet" which she doesn't consider "very bad". Ask any doctor and he/she will tell you that it is unsafe and unhealthy. Mrs. Irons needs to think twice before she gives people advice on how to starve themselves.
